Bottle, 22oz. A very dark brown body is topped by a small, beige head. Chocolate, coffee and something reminiscent of molasses in the aroma. A whiff of alcohol too. The flavor has a pleasant addition of resiny hops trying to bring some balance, but it’s still more on the dark malty side with chocolate, coffee and a touch of molasses. Full body, soft carbonation. Tasteful and pleasant. 111209 johnnnniee (4457) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 18, 2012
Received in trade from brentk56, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a solid black with a huge tan head that Slowly subsides and leaves lots of stickies. The aroma is not what I expected, lots of caramel, chocolate, earth, and dark fruits, not much roast or Belgian yeast inspired esters. The flavor compensates with a bit of roast coffee and chocolate up front. Some caramel and dark cherries and raisins round out the flavor nicely but still not much in the way of Belgian inspiration. Medium to thick body with a spirited level of carbonation and a sweet creamy tart fruity type mouthfeel. This is a nice stout, it has a foreign extra meets quad kind of feel to it. The Belgian influence is subtle, but it works. This was probably a little better when fresh, I wish I hadn’t lost this one in the back of the stack. burg326 (5628) - Florida, USA - JUN 12, 2012
22 ounce bottle that pours a dark brown, almost black color, aromas of soy sauce, coffee, caramel, and some light molasses. Flavors follow suit, with som light chocolate. Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Originally reviewed: 5/13/10. This beer pours a deep dark black with a thin tan head on top. No retention, no lace. Big scents of roasted malts, cocoa, wine, and a bit of char. The mouth is smooth but a little thin at times. Nice chocolatey flavors right away, some vinous grapes, and a little yeast on the finish. This is a good stout. Good beer. gunnfryd (15474) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 15, 2012

22oz bottle. Rating #205. Black pour with a dark brown head, not much of a head at that. Sweet and fruity, red grapes and darker fruits co-mingling. Sweet flavor, getting more grapes or more to the point, raisins, with a little roast and toast in the finish with a bit of an alcohol burn right at the finish. This brew mostly is mostly Dark Fruit heavy. Plums, raisins, figs. I also picked up some toffee, small amount of roasted burnt malt, and bittersweet chocolate in the aftertaste. Nice and smooth mouthfeel. This one comes in at 8.50% abv and I enjoyed it a lot and was surprised how well it held up age wise. Dogbrick (14287) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 12/16/2011. Acquired via trade. The beer pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma consists of sweet malt, yeast and cocoa. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and yeast. Something in the background akin to black olives or black beans too. The finish is roasty with a sweet and salty malt aftertaste. Overall not a bad hybrid Stout but the off flavor behind it all takes away from it. Geokkjer (7663) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 9, 2011
