furthur (1261) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - JUL 23, 2017
Bottle, finally getting to this, long story about the long wait, lets see how they’ve held up. Black beer, skiff of foam. Aroma is coffee, toasted barley, chocolate and a hint of fruit. Taste is coffee, sour cherries, hint of metal. This is mellow and balanced like Sumatra.

12 oz bottle in a Belgian snifter. Despite a fairly vigorous pour, the thin head did not even fully cover the top of the near black, opaque body. Despite the paucity of head a little spotty lacing was left on the glass and a partial head hung on for a good while. Coffee dominated aroma with dark bread in the background. Good coffee aroma, but the coffee flavor is even better. Excellent mildly bitter, bitter-sweet balance. Fine coffee and brown bread aftertaste. Medium-full body with light carbonation.

Pours cola brown with a think off-white head with a strong coffee aroma with some chocolate and caramel.Creamy body with solid lacing. Nice beer.

Pours black with brown head. A powerfully strong coffee aroma with roasted malts and chocolate. A sweet chocolate and smooth coffee taste with roasted malts. A mild aftertaste of coffee and roasted malts.

pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is big on the coffee, with notes of vanilla. Flavor is much the same. Body is a bit thin. Dry bitter finish. Good but got to knock off points for how thin it is.

Bottle: Almost black with a creamy tan head. Chocolate, roast, coffee aroma. Sweet, creamy, dark coffee malt, cocoa. Rich.....very nice.

12oz bottle. Did this side x side x side x side with the other coffee varieties. I found them to all be very similar with very subtle differences if any. Roast, coffee, some chocolate, and some caramel. I liked the Kona one a tad bit more as to me, the coffee stood out a little more.

While I liked the Euthopia the best of the 4, this my have been my least favorite.....thought they were all pretty close and solid brews. Seems like the difference that I am getting is in the styles of coffee....which is how these variations should be. Sumatra has that darker and bolder flavor. Balance slightly affected by this. Better than the average coffee stout in this style, but wouldn’t really go out of my way.

Bottle shared. The beer is a dark brown to black with a khaki head of foam. Fair retention. Aroma has herbs, nuts, caramel, coffee, molasses, and charred toffee. Sweet, nutty, roasty character. Thick Mouthfeel, medium carbonation, medium body.

By far the best of the group. This one is the least milky and the best flavor of coffee. Pours almost black with a tan head. Had out of a bottle in Myrtle heach
