Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

PapaVillum (929) - Valby, DENMARK - MAR 5, 2017
---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. Pours jet black with small tan coloured head. Dark bitter chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, milk chocolate, dark fruits and a touch of grapefruit on the nose. Really thick, bubbly mouth feel. Taste is all of the above, with a nice bitter kick on the backend. This is fantastic stuff.

Pours with barely no foam. Color is very much like oil. Aroma is strongly burnt and old oil-like with roasted malts, raisin, plum, hassel-like nut, raspberry, vanilla, honey and plenty of other aromas. Clearly the aroma of this is very complex. Palate is noticeably oily and the carbonation is weak, in general it could be described "round". However the weak carbonation is not a problem, but I find it to fit this type of beer perfectly. Taste starts with a good amount of bitterness that stays for a while, but its not overwhelming, more like creates a very good "kick". The taste is dominated by burnt tastes. Additionally taste is dominated by the flavour of a very dark (and also slightly bitter) chocolate (like >85% cocoa) and a hint of alcohol. The taste has very little sweetness, but is more like a very well balanced or "straightforward" in terms of sweetness and bitterness. The taste is not nearly as complex as the aroma, but the taste is still very good and anyone liking very dark beers or stouts will probably find this an excellent drink.
