3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pitch black pour with a khaki head. Nose is rich chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and flaky malts. Chewy palate, coffee stands out quite a bit, roasted malts, grainy, no sign of alcohol at all.
bottle picked up at a local dfw rip and run. enjoyed in my hotel. Pours the part. dark, this off white head. strong coffe nose. generally sweet, roasted malts, coffee. body is slightly thin, but frankly, I know dem ratings be low but I enjoyed. stevoj (5566) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 17, 2016
Catch up rating from last night’s RIS tasting. I brought this monstrosity back from Austin. Should have left it there. All around weak and finishes very funky, mild, tastes somehow off. Very disappointing, but then again I wasn’t expecting much for $5.99 a bottle. jake65 (4000) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - APR 17, 2016
Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Brown color with a little tan head. Nose is mild with roast, a little floral and earthy. Roasty taste, some chocolate, and a little more earthy bit. Thin body, very tame... OK, it’s weak for the style. BuckeyeBoy (8459) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 16, 2016
22oz bottle thanks to Mike. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is a odd some roast and nutty wood note. Taste is more of the odd metallic notes and a nutty wood note. drjay44 (3826) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 16, 2016
651 ml. bottle. 8.4% ABV per the breweries website. After opening almost a gusher, pours an enormous, slowly collapsing beige head, over a clear black (SRM 45) body.....nose is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate notes, light dried fruits with plum tones, mild hops.....taste is sweet, with cocoa, chocolate, mild toffee/caramel, hints of plum, finishing with a moderate hop, burnt malt bitterness.....mouth feel, medium sticky body, mild alcohol heat, high carbonation with mild acid. This is a roasted malt dominated beer. The carbonation is very high and is almost obnoxious. The base beer is quite simple for the style, and needs an extensive re-work of both the malt and hop backbones, with a perhaps also a change of yeast. BJCP 6/1/12/4/6

"For me this company has had some ups, and some downs, this beer is certainly on the upside. Standard black body, the head recedes quite quickly into the thinnest of rings leaving a spot or three of lace here and there. Aromas feature milk chocolate, some licorice, and some deep malts and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is ok but a bit on the thin side for the style.Flavors of the milk chocolate, licorice, with the slightly burnt coffee towards the end, some drying from the wood. Alcohol is well hidden, very smooth and easy to drink. Overall it wont match up with the biggest or best but its so well rounded, flavorful without offensiveness, and well balanced. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 17, 2014
Big and stouty like any big stout should be. Mostly a typical imp stout but a bonus point for the smokiness. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 17, 2014

>> Slow gusher. Huge coffee foam atop near black pour. Nose is rich and spicy dark chocolate. Taste is papery, metallic, chalky, pine mint. Eh. Palate is not too aerated, not sticky, though anesthetic. Drinkable.

Black with a tan ring. Nose is bitter dark malt. Taste of smoke, bitter molasses. Very carbonated for an imperial stout. Decent stuff.
