Scotch Ale, also known as a Wee Heavy is a big rich malty ale. When you open the bottle we recommend you pour it into two glasses and share it with a friend. As you drink the beer slowly the flavor will intensify and become more complex as it warms. The beer gets better with age, so buy 10 bottles and drink one a year for 10 years.

Pours very dark brown/black out of bottle with lots of carbonation. Malty chocolate flavor and very smooth and sweet taste. Very good beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a copper with small beige head. Aroma is caramel and dark fruits. Thin mouth with off malt flavor and odd finish. No

What a waste. Poured with no head. In the mouth it is cloyingly sweet with malt. This brewery has tried very hard to be more then what it is and this is a perfect example of not living up to their own hype. Thin in the mouth with no backbone. Almost flat.

Very thin head on dirty brown amber. Funny aroma smells like i just fertilized the lawn. Very thick. Dirty woody. If you think peat you will taste some. Dirty building aftertaste. Glad I didn’t buy 10.

Thick redish brown brew with a nice head that holds on. Smells of burgandy wine and butterscotch. Taste is toffee with hints of caramel and coffee. Thick on the tongue. Drank this while a cold front was coming through (temp dropped to 70) but this was thicker than I thought it would be and wish I had saved it for a colder day. Still very good but the price tag makes it a one time buy for me.

Big malt lots of fruity sweetness. Pours thick opaque caramel brown with a little bit of red. Thick lasting light tan head. Lighter bodied than expected. Watery mouthfeel. Candy sweet, malty. Really nice flavor right up to the end when things get not so great with a chemical or kerosene finish.

Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Bottle from a liquor store in Temple. Muddy brown pour with a small head. Aroma is a little smoke, toasted grain, and caramel. Taste is lots of caramel, maybe some moss, chocolate, and a little heat. Nice finish.

Bottle courtesy Fratto. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a foamy head. Aroma is big time caramel malt, syrup, light smoke and sweet grains. Flavor is very sweet with more fat caramel notes, toffee. Light butterscotch. Easy mouthfeel. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

651 ml. bottle. Pours a thin poorly retained, ivory head, over a clear, light brown (SRM 20) body....nose is light coffee, cocoa tones from the roasted malt melanoidins, hints of dried fruit including plum, fig, minimal hops....taste is sweet to start, with moderate dried fruits including fig, date, mild coffee from the roasted malts, leading to a light hop, roasted malt bitterness......mouth feel, body light of medium, sticky, slightly astringent, mild alcohol warmth, carbonation low with minimal acid. This is a poor attempt at a Scotch "Wee Heavy". It lacks the depth of malt complexity usually found in the style. Further there are some harsh bitter tones, not from hops on the finish. Also it has a very light body. A rework of the malt bill seems appropriate, and I wonder about the choice of yeast. BJCP 7/3/13/4/6
