Yet another beer not on the menu but brought to me by the owner/landlord of the excellent Cafe De Grendelpoort, Valkenburg in Holland. 22 Oct 2012 and I asked if he had anything amber he wasn’t showing in the beer menu: a 33cl bottle of this came my way. To be honest I found it a bit boring from start to finish and went back to the on-tap Ayinger Celebrator straight away afterwards. Clean amber pour, with a small white head. Malts just about rule the nose and palate: broken down I found biscuity, bready and yeasty notes in both the aroma and taste but nothing strong enough to excite my senses. This is almost bland: of course having it inbetween something as tasty as the Ayinger Celebrator can’t have helped the brew a great deal.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2017 Hazy amber colored with a off white head that slowly settles into a flaky layer. Barley aroma. Notes of fruity esters in there too. Honey and barley malts for taste. Bit on the sweet side. Call me nuts but I get some salt. Like one or two grains of salt slowly dissolve on your tongue. Who said no complexity huh? Fresh an fruity, ripe fruits especially(banana). Mouthfeel thinnish and medium carbo. More than liked it!!!

33 cL Bottle at home. Pours almost clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma has some caramel, toast, flowers, bit of fruitiness. Taste has caramel, malts, a bit of fruitiness and a soft bitter finish. Medium body and carbo.

From a Jumbo supermarket in De Koog, Texel. Pours amber golden color, topped with white head. Grassy lemony nose. Grassy soury start with stronger biscuity malty back and quite yeasty. Sparkly body. Decent one to freshen you up.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2017 From 0.3 L bottle, pours amber coloured with an off-white head. Aroma is malty, a bit hoppy but also iron. Taste is malty medium sweet with toffee, light bitter, slightly spicy. Nice mouthfeel, pleasant, slightly creamy palate. Low to average carbonation. Really like this one.

Amber kleurig zoet biertje met een lichte karamel smaak bij de afdronk, relatief lichte smaak maar wel lekker. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aus der Flasche getrunken (Lieferung aus der Brauerei). Klares dunkles Amber im Glas. Süßlich im Antrunk und sehr mild wirkend.

Bottle in a restaurant in Amsterdam. Hazy orange with a full head. Aroma of spice wheat. Flavour of tinned fruit, caramel, yeast on a bitter spice finish.

This was quite the surprise by the Texels brewery. A very nice beer with a soft mouthfeel and nice wheety/hoppy aromas.
