beerbill (3619) - Laurel, New York, USA - JUL 6, 2013
On draught at the brewpub. Arrived dark brown, just about black, with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of oak, whiskey and malt. The flavor is ample oak and whiskey with malt. Slight tanginess as well. No alcohol heat at all. Mild bitterness at the finish. Excellent! douglas88 (9408) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 13, 2013
On tap at the brewery. The ABV was actually listed as 15% plus, so who knows. Pours a deep mahogany color, unclear, with a small white head. A huge nose of whiskey. The flavor is also dominated by straight sour mash whiskey, not a ton of barrel, rich caramel and sugary malts. Not super hot, but the strength is there. Very interesting. An aperitif for sure. Great.
