Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is nice and fruity with currants and some light citrus notes. A bit of an earthy, herbal funk with hints of oak. Pours a golden orange with a medium white head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly acidic with moderate citrus notes and a bit of a sharp note. Moderate currant notes with some medium light oak notes. Light bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer. Lots of fruit and good funk and oak notes. Tasty, but a bit off as well; I can’t put my finger on what bothers me about it but perhaps it’s the wine barrels.

Bottle courtesy of HenrikO. Pours very hazy deep orange with a small creamy offwhite head that leaves some thick sticky lacing on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is fruity and funky with crackers, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, hay, minerals, barnyard, black currant leaves and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, slightly sour, fruity and funky. Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly tart, tiny dry and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and slightly sour with crackers, lemon juice, black currants, hay and funk. Soft and balanced despite the abv. Pleasant citric acidity and sublte supporting black currant notes. Tasty!

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Originally reviewed 2/9/2015. Very hazy. Small white head. I don’t smell currants. Acidic smelling. Very yeasty. Strong pale malt. Fruity. Maybe even a little bit of berry to it. Taste has a strong sourness. Stone fruit more than currant. Very yeasty. Gets a little bit intense in the back end. Spike in white wine flavor in the finish. Medium heavy. Medium carbonation. Well, I don’t get the currants, but this is still a great beer.
