Cask handpull, The Harlequin, Sheffield. Ruby with a generous, airy beige foam. Jellied red fruit aroma. Toasty dry roasted, quite a dollop of vanilla, some sweetener-like bitterness Iím not mad about, medicinal cherry that on a (slightly parochial) note reminds me of the fruit jellies dispensed to kids at Dr. Kingís surgery on The Binley Rd, Coventry, circa 1980- not a metaphor used often on RB. No real roasted character; the merest sifting of coal, Marmite dabs. Quid a half. Bit sweet for me. Mixed impressions.
