Draft. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark rye and hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer.

4/01/2016 (bottle): Wow, I really have forgotten how damn good TBK Black Rajah is and how much I’ve missed it. It’s exactly what I like for a Black IPA… Lots of pine and resiny hops along with a good dose of citrus and ample bitterness all on top of a clean maltiness with just enough semi-sweet chocolate and chocolate malt flavor to add depth and richness. 12 oz bottle, sent over by Jeff. Thanks! A nice little surprise here. A cola black pour with a lasting cream tan foam head. A ton of roasted character in this. A bold roasted malt first impression. Cool and creamy body, this beer has a ton going on. Toasty, hoppy, creamy, sweet, bitter. Very impressive Black IPA to say the least. Delicious hoppy porter here. Bottled Aug 30th. I work in beer retail so I checked the case date. Pitch pour with lofty, sandy head. Beautiful Citra-based nose of mango and pineapple, some pastel lemon, pine, and a supremely delicate chocolate on the nose. Predominately hoppy though. Flavor is definitely representing proper Hoppiness atop a caramel-like bright-chocolate body. How does TBK do it? Must be pure magic. Best black IPA in the country.
Bottle. Nose indistinctly hoppy and resinous, very sweet with much lighter roast. Pour muddy dark brown that’s closer to black in the glass, jiggling and foamy tan head. Taste with acrid strong bitterness and resin, creamy cream/milk and jumbled PNW hops, extremely strong pine and scorched black malt, heavy roast and even strong chocolate. Medium-full body with a sense of weight from the booze, but the really nice burned, scorched notes star here, reminiscent of both fresh espresso and stale espresso. Hops are almost in the way at this point! Some brown malt approximators, woodiness with earth and a touch of toffee but minimal fruit. I really came around on this one over the course of a bottle, really bold and consistently brutal, tastes way bigger than it is. Tasted from bottle. Pours black with a thick light khaki head. Aroma is not very strong. Some citrus and a little roasted malt. Taste well balanced and moderately bitter. Flavors of citrus, pine, coffee, chocolate, caramel. Very well done black IPA.

12oz bottle pours out dark brown topped with a sand head. Nose is pine citrus hops and a light roast malt. Taste is more of the pine citrus dank hops a roast chocolate malt makes up the malt bill.
