Aroma: Lots of spiciness with hints of floral hops. Very aromatic
Appearance: Clear dark amber with thick, tan head
Taste: Light bitterness and light sourness in back of throat
Palate: Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, decent finish
Overall: Very disappointing. The aroma leads one to believe a bold flavor, but it’s just not here. GnarlyGnome (770) - Fairfield, Ohio, USA - OCT 5, 2012
Bottle: pours nice, red, coppery color with a big tan head. Aromas of sweet, caramel and spicy bread with citrusy grapefruit. The flavor is a real treat... Well balanced, and it develops well throughout the whole taste. Great stuff. Drake (14045) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 26, 2014
12 ounce bottle from And Beer, Athens. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of rye, raw malt, candied citrus, pine, caramel. The taste is toffee malt, rye, citrus. Medium bodied, good balance. Nice beer, as per usual from these guys. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - NOV 25, 2014
Bottle at home. Pours a very murky brown with a minimal head. Aroma is serious rye, caramel, whole wheat bread, herbs, and earth. The taste is very rye forward, slight caramel back end, toffee, dank weed, and dandelions. The finish is somewhat bitter and rye. Medium light body, grainy texture. I like this style of beer and this is good. JStax (7075) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 25, 2012
Poured on draft. Hazy amber with a white head of foam that had a tint of orange to it. Aroma is all spicy rye with some resin and floral hop notes. Taste is all rye spiciness at first but gives way to a earthily bitter finish. Full mouthfeel.

A: The aroma showcases rye as well as citrusy hops. I can also detect some caramel malt notes. Nothing wrong here; however, there is nothing overwhelming.
AP: Pours a dark amber topped by a firm sheet of foam. There is also a moderate amount of lace.
T: The taste is interesting. The first thing I notice is the rye; however, there is a caramelly and I believe raiseny aspect to the taste as well. The hops seem to be absent here and only a bittering balance is noticeable.
P: The mouthfeel is creamy and makes the beer easily sessionable.
O: Another good beer from the Strongsville. Keep up the good brewing! JaBier (8132) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Sample at From the Vine on 7/27/12. Clear copper pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of rye, caramel and grassy hops; very fresh, almost like wort. Malty and caramelly flavor with spicy rye before a grassy hop finish. Dogbrick (13410) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 4, 2012
Sample at the DBLDP on 09/02/2012: Dark amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. The aroma is rye spices, malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of rye malt, grassy hops and a bit of fruit. The finish is hoppy with a rye aftertaste. Decent overall. superspak (5803) - Michigan, USA - SEP 9, 2012
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating(but this can’t be too old). Big pop of carbonation upon opening. Pours a very hazy reddish orange color with a huge 2-3 finger light khaki head that lasts forever. This took forever to fully pour in to the glass. Obscene amounts of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, caramel, rye, toast, orange rind, pine, and light herbal. Ok aromas, but it is difficult to really smell anything through 3 fingers of head that wont go anywhere. Taste of grapefruit, caramel, pine, rye, toast, orange zest, floral, and herbal. Fair amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, rye, caramel, toast, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness; with good flavor balance as well. No cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a fairly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good rye beer. The obscene over carbonation almost killed it for me, but after swirling out some of the carbonation it turned out pretty good. Some nice balance of flavors; very smooth to drink. I can bet this is a nice one with proper carbonation levels. mcnealc31 (255) - Elida, Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2012
Pours hazy orange, just like expected. Very sticky white head. Hops, rye, and caramel in the aroma. Spicy, hoppy, and a very long grapefruit finish. Big flavor and very well balanced. Definitely hoppier than I expected and the rye doesn’t come through as much as I had hoped, but it’s there.
Very nice beer from The Brew Kettle. The flavors all work together well, but I would prefer more rye flavor. Love the label.
