Tap at The Bruery. Pours rather black with a dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, a little heat. Full bodied. Flavor is smoky, dark treacle, bourbon, maybe chocolate. Pretty tasty.

On tap for Reserve Society members at the Bruery. Dark brown/black pour with a tan head. Aroma has some smoke and woody bourbon notes. Taste is a nice mix of the smokey and chocolatey with some definite bourbon booziness. Pretty good.

On tap @ Sucreversary. Black pour with a tan head. Smokey, bacon aroma. Roasted malt, woody bourbon, char, and apple. Light vanilla, chocolate, and chalk. Flavor is kind of bourbon-soda. Lots of smoke, char, roast, and alcohol. Some toasted bread, vanilla, apple, and dark chocolate. Kind of chalky on the finish.

Despite my affinity for bourbon aged beers, this beer was just eh. Chocolate and roast were main players but held no drama. Bourbon was more of an added ingredient than a compliment to the existing. Didn’t hate it.
