4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to Saucer Sam for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a yellow color with a few white bubbles. The aroma has a good bit of leathery funk to it, as well as some lemon notes and a bit of wheat. The flavor is similar. The funk notes are fairly strong, but I also get some tart, acidic lemon character. There is also a bit of leather, as well as some biscuit and oranges. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.
Not anywhere near the complexity of the belgian lambics, just tart, more funk than they usually have. Complex but unbalance random flavors. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUN 3, 2016
750, capped. Wow, J, thanks so much for this! I’d never even heard of this one. Pours a slightly hazy bright golden amber with a dense and creamy whitish head that fades away immediately. Bright oranges on the nose, light hay and barnyard but way way in the background. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Oranges, wet hay, and a tiny bit of barnyard funk on the mid-palate. Long dry finish with orange overtones. BuckeyeBoy (7680) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 30, 2016

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 10k tasting - many thanks to the boy himself. Pours mostly clear gold with a bubbly white head. A touch of musty wood in the nose, rindy lemon, hay. Light sweet flavor with mellow acidity, wheat, hay, moist grass. Medium bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Moderate acidity on the finish, lemon squash, pale bread, light musty bite, grass. Solid offering. Scopey (14730) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle share at my 10K tasting, acquired via trade. It pours very slightly hazy golden/pale orange with a tiny white head. The nose is soft, funky, floral, woody, hay, light dust, musty, light manure and vanilla. The taste is tart, light mouth-pucker, funky, sour grapefruit, pithy lemon, granny smith apple, funky, some sherbet and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite mellow. Not a huge amount of depth, but rather enjoyable. Theydon_Bois (19510) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle split at Scopey 10K, thanks to he of the ten, 26/11/15.
Golden with a moderate off White covering that quickly dissipates to nyadda.
Nose is pissy citrics, damp cloth, funk, lemon rind, traces of dry rot.
Taste comprises funky vibes, pissy, wood must, lemon, tarte fruit load, decaying peach, lactic pangs.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with moderate puckerings.
Solid enough geueze. Whatup14 (2008) - Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - APR 11, 2015
900e ratings!
thnx to a trade .
Pours clear blonde, nearly no head .
Smell is funky, bit grainy .
Taste is dry , wood, sharp lactic sourness . Touch of grainyness . Some citrussy sourness as well . Not as complex as a real geuze, but not a bad ’American sour ale ’... Only wonder why they call this a geuze ...
