2009 edition Super inky black color (as expected). Thick & with viscous lacing left around the glass. Thin layer of tan head. Aroma is almost pure bourbon - it comes through so strongly that you really cant pick up much of anything else (possibly some hints of vanilla). Flavor is a bit better with the maltiness fighting its way through the bourbon a bit more than in the nose. The sweetness makes itself known as well. Not bad by any means - I just prefer a bit more complexity. Mouthfeel is great - the thick feel of this one really works well for this beer. The finish is (not surprisingly) very strong and boozy - cant imagine Id be able to put way too much of this stuff - its a big bold bourbon bomb of a beer so if you like that sort of thing you will LOVE this. Recommended, but maybe a bit underwhelming - just not as complex as Id hoped for - maybe with more time the bourbon would chill out a bit and mingle in with the other flavors but for me that overly bourbony aspect detracted from my overall enjoyment of the beer.

Bottleshare: pours black with a small head. Aroma is molasses, liqueur, toffee, chocolate, cake. Taste is quite sweet with light hoppiness over at the end. High complexity. Very large. Boozy aftertaste. Grows hair on your chin.

Bottle, shared at a tasting in Tokyo on 1/8/17. 2016 issue. Color is very dark, but not quite black/opaque. Off white head, not much. Aromas: berries, sweetish, alcohol, whiskey. Retronasal its sweetish, alcohol, molasses. Flavor is moderate to full sweet, alcohol. Strong alcohol feel obviously, but not overly so. Medium to full bodied (I would have expected it to be syruppy, but no). Finishes with some roast and some bitterness. Didnt quite live up to the expectations, but I heard this issue is not the best. Hopefully my 2012 and 2014 bottles are better.

Pours black/dark brownlight does shine thru. Aromas are dominated by sweet bourbon notes; cherries, dried dark fruits, molasses, licorice, tobacco. Smells a lot like a bourbon cocktail! Tastes are led by bourbon and dried fruits. Middle of the mouth features a bit of cocoa, fruit syrup, & tart dark cherries (Luxardo). Booze present from start to finish but mostly stands out at the end. Becomes incredibly vinous once it warms up (dessert wine). Crazy hot on the tongue with a long finish. Sticky, flat, and a medium body. Overall an amazing, extreme beer; one hell of an experience!

How have I never rated Black Tuesday yet?
Anyway its black and has a small but reasonably well retained head.

The aroma is bourbon and chocolate mostly but its got a big booziness and some vanilla in there too... maybe some maple syrup.

The flavor is huge, way way boozy & bourbon forward, extremely sweet & chocolate/caramel forward. Rich no end reasonably roasty, delicious

75cl, 2016? vintage freshly hunted and kindly hauled & shared by oldmanriver at Oct Brewpub, merci. - Archetypical viscous pour, Mars bar diluted in motor oil, a thin sheet of dark brown foam mirages. - Shines with a black hole wealth of caramelised sugars ranging from molasses, still classy pancake syrup over deep toffee and maple syrup, before coating them with bourbon honey and charred fondant. Manages to remain at least very pleasantly sippable as a malty chocolate bourbon, being basically a diabetes-inducing liqueur. I am missing some depth, but maybe aging can aerate this reduction. - Belgian footnote, comparing this with e.g. De Struise: I tend to miss a yeast profile to value these black hole ingredient additions as a beer (creation) or brewing art, but it is hard to deny that, just like some metal genres arising from the same culture of superlatives & Westward, then skyward expansion, this product ups and amps the ante of what can be though of the base product. Hence: rated as the lipsmacking moral question in a big boozy bottle that it is...

Jezu jakie to dobre, mało piany, brązowo-czarne. Burbon, wanilia, lukrecja, anyż, drip, suszone owocki.
