Sample from Tyler at The Bruery, served at my home brew club meeting. Thanks to Pat and Tyler for bringing this as a sample. Sorry but big and strong doesn’t impress me. Hard to consider this a "beer." Well-brewed and quality is there. After hearing Tyler talk about how this is brewed I understand they go to a lot of trouble to get this to come out this strong and be drinkable. I enjoyed about one ounce but would not wish for more. Just because it’s rare doesn’t make it desirable to me. Mostly tasted like boiled licorice and molasses with hot sweet alcoholic finish.
Pitch black, sticky. Moderate oxidzied, caramel, burnt, dark chocolate and toffee notes. Some plums, vanilla, oaky character. Moderately boozy in taste and aroma. Too boozy, very sweet, but nice oxidized, organic and sugary character. heman (956) - Tychy, POLAND - JUN 20, 2017
Aromat intensywny, melasa, czekolada, nuty porto w tle, a także wanilia. Alkohol bardzo wyraźny, kojarzący się wprost z wódką.
W smaku nie tak pełne jak się spodziewałem. Nuty palone, ciemny karmel, melasa, gorzka czekolada. Niuanse kokosa. Alkohol czysty i bardzo wyraźny. Całość trochę jak bogata nalewka czekoladowa. gr_pa (667) - siemianowice, POLAND - JUN 18, 2017
Dark brown, low carbonation, low head. Aroma: oxidation, dates, toffee. Very sweet, full body, lots of alcohol. Very complex, but also lots of alcohol. Dry fruits, sweet malt and lots of alcohol. Borup (14261) - Albertslund, DENMARK - JUN 14, 2017
A black beer with a beige head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, caramel, oak and vanilla. klm1 (1501) - Bled/SF, - JUN 13, 2017
Batch 2015 with 19.9% abv.@
Pours oily black opaque with dissipating brown creamy head. Aroma: huge
roasted grain, dark malts character, intense dark fruits esters, vanillin, oak, leather, bourbon.
Flavour follows aroma: roasted grain, dark malts with notes of tosted toffee, burnt caramel, coffee, cocoa dark & milk chocolate, supported with notes of esters, which takes on dark fruits, like prunes, plumes, vanillin, oak, leather and bourbon. Slightly tannic, astringent, dry finish. Full, thick body, smooth texture, moderatr carbonation. Fresh one would be hard drinkable.

Aromas of bourbon and molasses, with dates and figs. Taste is leather, strong bourbon, molasses, dates, figs, and cherries. Strong leather and bourbon after taste and warming of the chest. KennethArd (551) - Odense, DENMARK - JUN 5, 2017
Aroma of cocoa, dark chocolate, milk chocolate & some oaky burned notes. Unfortunately the alcohol is too much in focus. It’s black with no head. The taste is medium sweet with a dry finish & then again the alcohol is too much in focus. Medium body, oily texture & soft carbonation. Caramel, toffee, molasses, alcohol. Clear, dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More dark chocolate, cacao, caramel, soft carbonation, full bodied. Great Impy, would never have thought this to be that high in ABV. Keg at MBCC Yellow Session, Copenhagen. czlowiekmotyka (256) - Warsaw, POLAND - MAY 28, 2017
Not as black as the name suggests. Surprisingly light for its abv. Description is rather accurate - chocolate, vanilla and caramel are dominant. But the alcohol spoils the fun ... Kapsel (320) - Warsaw, POLAND - MAY 28, 2017
Dużo kawy, mleczna czekolada, ukryte alko jak na te 20%, lekka wanilia, fajne ciało, chciałoby się posiedzieć przy tym piwie długie godziny.
