Poterie is French for “pottery”, the traditional eight-year anniversary gift. Our eighth anniversary ale, Poterie, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with our house yeast strain and then blended using the solera method. This means that a portion of each anniversary ale is saved in oak barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character as the years go by. The result is layered in robust and complex flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Poterie will age gracefully for decades when cellared properly.

Editor’s Note: This is the entry for The Bruery’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Anniversary beer.

Pour is a very dark murky brown color with a small tan head. Very sweet aroma, strong cherry notes, some plum and fig, lots of bourbony oakiness as well, strong caramel notes, and quite boozy. Wow, I am blown away by the taste. My first impression is that it’s a boozy maple syrup. Lots of bourbon and booze, some nice oak and lots of caramel, maple, syrupy sweet, figs, and maybe a light fruity hop character in there too. Wow, blown away by this beer. The barrels do incredible things to this, so many flavors melded together wonderfully.

(The bruery Saule) W aromacie świetne ciemne owoce, słodowo-karmelowa słodycz. W smaku dość słodkie z bardzo fajnym finiszem. Alkohol dobrze ukryty jak na voltage. Całkiem treściwe. Bardzo fajne piwo.

Light brown. Very sweet, honey, bourbons, sticky, big boozy finish, too.A bit too simple for a beer so big, and certainly not hitting the old ale character.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2017 Reddish brown colour with smallish head on top. Aroma has figs, plums, dried fruits, raisin, red berries, toffee fudge, hint of alcohol. So balanced aroma. Taste is plums, dried fruits, raisin, dark fruits, dark chocolate, warming alcohol. Full oily body and low carbonation. Sweet and quite boozy.

Wersja CUIVRE Piana niewielka znika do krążka. Kolor brunatny, mętny. Aromat powala, wanilia, dębina, kokos, suszone owoce, daktyle.

On the label is written "contains alcohol". Really? There’s f*** 16.1% abv.!! Pours dark reddish brown, opaque and slightly clear with foamy dissipating beige head. Aroma: malts, dark fruits esters, vanilla, oak, bourbon...flavor is also very intense: malts with notes of honey, toasted toffee, caramel, bitter dark chocolate, hint of coffee, berries, cherries, resins, dates like fruity esters, vanillin, woody tannins, bourbon - like alcohol note / warmth...dry, slightly sticky sweet finish, full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. High abv. is perfectly hidden.
