Imperial Witbier, 8% ABV, sour mashed 1-2 days, and fermented with a blend of Berliner Weisse culture and Belgian Witbier yeast. The beer is barrel fermented in large red wine barrels (132 gal. barrels). Raspberries are added to the beer towards the end of fermentation directly to the barrel, and aged on the raspberries for a minimum of 1 month. The Berliner culture contains souring bacteria and the raspberries will add acidity to the beer. Brewed to commemorate Bottleworks 12th Anniversary.
Originally brewed in 2011. Rebrewed in 2013.

Bottle sampled at EBF, 3/22/14
Ruddy orange-amber body is lightly hazed and sports a small, moderate to poorly retained off-white head.
Brett is strong in the nose adding cherries, blackberries and light lemon skin. Raspberries are nicely reserved and very authentic, adding black pepper like spiciness, touches of nutmeg/cinnamon spiciness and strong acidity. Some light barrel woodiness but nothing overdone here. Lactic dryness lays overtop of everything and takes away some of the potential brightness, but in turn is interesting.
Lightly sweet honey and caramel malt notes add plenty of body while the sournesss slowly crescendos. Plenty of pepper, light citrus and raspberry seediness contributing bright acids, black pepper and vanilla. Sticky texture and somewhat bigger than what the flavors seem to call for, with medium carbonation. Barrel tannin and wood add nuttiness and oak dryness, working against the force of the light lactic notes and playful fruitiness. Strange, certainly not unenjoyable, but I think a little too ambitious for its own good.

Shared bottle to snifters. Thanks a million Justin. Pours cloudy light orange with a very active head. Zingy sour without being overpoweringly mouth puckering, which isn’t my thing for the record. The wine and raspberries are very subtle, but present. Creamy mouth feel with some bite from carbonation. Delicious.

March 22, 2014 - on tap at Bruery tasting room. Orangish yellow pour that was a tad cloudy. Sour fruit with yeast and grain in the aroma. Taste was consistent with the aroma, but raspberry is more noticeable.

75cl, Vintage 2013, new exclusive American brew Anno 2011, with raspberries, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex brew, floral/woody and slightly sour/fruity, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew, yet very expensive!

On tap at the Bruery. It pours a golden color with a white head. The aroma is lactic sour with some white peaches. Mild hints of raspberries and bread. The flavor is full with sour peaches, raspberry, alcohol and bread. Decent, but not amazing.

Hazy yellow orange in color... Aroma of citrus tartness, notes of raspberry... Flavor is light, moderately tart citrus, notes of spices and berries throughout... Extremely well done ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2017 Draft pour at Big Wood. Rerated almost a year later. Lighter orange golden pour with cloudy white head. Delicious sweet and sour flavor. White grape and apple. Long sweet after flavor. Very drinkable. My favorite style so it’s hard to do wrong. Loved this beer. UPDATE imperial witbeir with raspberry. Amazing. I never knew before, anything about this beer, other than the fact that its amazing. Tart raspberry aroma. Creamy, intense sour red raspberry here. An amazing sour. Beer is getting older, but only getting better.

2013 - could use more time but pretty damn tasty anyway. Light gold pour with frothy white head. Nose of berries, lemon, citrus, and grains. Taste follows the nose. Good amount of sourness with relatively tame acidity. Mouthfeel is typical Berliner. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
