Imperial Witbier, 8% ABV, sour mashed 1-2 days, and fermented with a blend of Berliner Weisse culture and Belgian Witbier yeast. The beer is barrel fermented in large red wine barrels (132 gal. barrels). Raspberries are added to the beer towards the end of fermentation directly to the barrel, and aged on the raspberries for a minimum of 1 month. The Berliner culture contains souring bacteria and the raspberries will add acidity to the beer. Brewed to commemorate Bottleworks 12th Anniversary.
Originally brewed in 2011. Rebrewed in 2013.

Bottle from oRos at Capitol Beer bottle share. Pours cloudy golden with a nice white head and a fruity aroma. There is a nicely sour fruit flavor with a hint of raspberry and a dry finish.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is raspberry, peach, and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with light tart fruit with nice light sourness in the finish. Very good.

Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - FEB 6, 2014
Bottle shared with the boys. Aroma is faint raspberry, some barnyard funk, a little blue cheese, and lemon peel. Pours bright hazy blonde with a decent medium head. Taste is peach skin, light raspberry, and a slight blue cheese. Not over the top and just delicious. Should cost less.

Berries and tea notes for aroma. Nice wheaty medium body with a perfectly tart fruit finish. I couldn’t get enough of this one, delicious sour.

flannelnomad (57) - portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Shared from a 750ml. Pours a beautiful hazy yellow. Smells like yeast, tart fruit, wine and vine. Tastes like raspberry iced tea. Herby, vinous, tea leaves, aged raspberry flavor over a fresh flavor and some oak in the background as well. Bright sugary and tart notes highlight the finish. This is just one fine fine sour berliner or imperial wit or whatever you want to call it. If I ever see this again I’m going to hop on it immediately. Honestly I’ve felt lately that some of the Bruery offerings I’ve had are a little over rated, this one rocks, maybe the best I’ve had by them.

pours hazy pale yellow with a small white cap, little retention and lacing. tropical plenty - pineapple, passionfruit, vinous - few tannins, very juicy and fruity - not quite raspberries though, which is odd, dusty bretts, moderate funk, lean honeyed malts, wheat graininess, light acidity - lemony, powdery citric and lactic, woodsiness. lively to average carbonation, light body - oily, gently tart and grassy-citrusy-fruity finish. excellent! much enjoyed!

Bottle shared by tom10101, thanks! Pours a light golden and slightly hazy. No head. Nose is of yeast and fruits, soft. Wheat is present and provide a nice canvas for aromas and flavors to express themselves. Taste is dry, fruity and full of raspberries. Refreshing acidity. Carbonation is high, body light to medium. Really fun to drink!

Bottle (750 ml). From Scott, thanks! Slightly hazy golden with a small/medium white head and little lacing. Aroma is of raspberries, sweetness notes, red wine, wheat acidity, perfume, apricots/peaches, yogurt and light vanilla. Taste is also of raspberries with some other fruits (mainly peaches and/or apricots), red wine, pleasant acidity, perfume, yogurt, oak and vanilla. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Winey mouthfeel. Dry finish. Complex, tasty and quite drinkable. Nice balance considering the components of the beer. Nice barrel treatment.
