COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What happens when 8 maids lay down in bourbon barrels for about a year? This: a rare variation to the 8th beer in our 12 Days of Christmas series. The Belgian-style imperial milk stout emerges this holiday season with deeper, richer, darker, more velvety milk chocolate notes, along with amplified roastiness and ripples of caramel, coconut and vanilla character. Drink it alongside the standard 2015 release to revel in the udderances achieved in barrel-aging, and lay a few down for up to three years to be enjoyed upon the release of 12 Drummers Drumming.

brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 29, 2017
On tap @ The Bruery. Brown, nearly black, with a tan head. Pretty nice beer here with some bourbon, oak, and vanilla. Has a touch of molasses and gingerbread cookie, too. Good amount of dark fruit character and sweetness, but it isn’t syrupy and goopy like a lot of the BA Bruery offerings. Pretty decent, though nothing amazing.

ABUSEDGOAT (2818) - California, USA - APR 5, 2017
Black pour with a small light tan head. Aroma of bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, chocolate, booze, lesser notes of darker fruit. Full bodied, lightly boozy, barrel flavor is prevalent and almost overpowering. Chocolate sweetness with barrel, quite drinkable given the percent.

ineedbeer (2229) - Oakland, California, USA - FEB 5, 2017
Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma has a lot of milk chocolate with some lighter roast and dark chocolate. Some light lactose and dark fruit notes. Medium light bourbon and light oak. Light anise notes. Some light alcohol spice. Pours black with a small, thick, creamy, light mocha head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of milk chocolate and some lighter lactose notes. Some light dark chocolate and roast notes. Light raisin and dark fruit. Hints of spicy phenolics with allspice and anise. Medium light bourbon notes and some faint oak. Light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and a bit creamy with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer and much better than the non barrel aged version. Much less phenolic spice notes and the barrel character halos cut through the lactose sweetness.
