On tap at The Bruery. Lots of roasty aromas and flavors come through. Coffee, dark chocolate, and burnt toast. Very nice. brokensail (16601) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 16, 2012
Pours a very dark brown, almost black color with an off-white head. Nice roasted malt on the nose with some chocolate, faint vanilla, a light nuttiness, and some toast. Sweet toasted malt with a definite roastiness. Light chocolate note in the background, some nuttiness, and a hint of bitterness, banana, and vanilla. Tap at The Bruery. Poured a deep, clear amber with mega head retention and thick lacing. Nose is chocolate, fudge, autumn spice, blackcurrant. Taste is bittersweet playoff, blackcurrant, prune, chocolate, malted milk ball, oatmeal and rye thickness and silkiness. Bitter, balanced, clean. Very good. bs476 (80) - - SEP 9, 2012
caramel, chocolate, coffee, toast, roasty. Coke brown, hazy, minimal head. medium sweetness, medium bitterness. ale-like body, medium feel, average carbonation, long finish. A big brown ale. Originally thought it was a porter but clarity (compared to stout) made it an ale. Would recommend.

Sample at Bruery Provisions. The beer pours a dark brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing. The aroma is malty with some roasted nut and hop notes. Medium-bodied with a roasty character of malt and nuts plus some mild hops. The finish is sweet with a mocha aftertaste. Decent overall. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - JUL 20, 2012
I had this on tap at the Bruery in Placentia. It was roasty but had a slightly sweet element to it that you don’t see in brown ales
