3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the tasting room right after it opened. Murky, flat oude bruin sort of thing with a strong acetic burn but also some slight notes of pomegranate that are nice. So-so. Definitely worse than the Flossmoor Station Pomegranate sour, which is my only point of comparison.
The pour is dark amber/brown in color with an off-white head. Sort of a bland aroma. Some mild vinegar and, like the kiwi, not much pomegranate. A mild berry flavor to it with some strong wood notes, particularly sawdust. Not really too much pomegranate flavor, but still some acetic sourness. The beer is, unfortunately, pretty much flat, too. On tap at the Reserve Society event. Pours with a murky deep brown body. Essentially flat with no head. Aromas are mildly acetic, red wine, vinous, earthy, tart and fruity. Hints of chocolate. Flavors are acetic, tart and earthy. Balsamic, mild funk and tobacco. Very low carbonation, medium bodied with a drying, vinegar feeling. kegbear (436) - Orange, California, USA - MAR 17, 2012
On tap at The Bruery Reserve Society Party. Medium brown pour with slight tan head. Tart dark fruit flavor with tart dark cherries and some sweetness from the malt. Pomegranate came through mainly in the tartness. Nice. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 19, 2011
Draft at the brewery. Murky dark reddish brown pour, thin tannish head. Dark fruit, balsamic vinegar, some lactic acid, dark berries, faint pomegranate, molasses, and light roasted malt. Interesting sour, but not one of my favorites.
