Massive vanilla and chocolate, brandy and bourbon, chocolate mousse, loads of sweet vanilla things with soft roasted malts, strong chocolate and booze. Crazy dessert notes with lots of alcohol. Very sweet and under medium bitter. Full bodied with alcoholic finish. Just massive, but the alcohol level is a bit ridiculous here, couldn’t finish a bottle between three people. Highly acclaimed variation on The Bruery’s Black Tuesday theme, at Bruery Sucré Tasting in Bruges. Thin, pale greyish beige, quickly dissipating head over a hazy black beer with warm yellowish mahogany brown edges, like Black Tuesday. Complex, intense aroma of bitter chocolate, sherry, fig, shoe polish-like phenols, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, cocoa, beef broth, coffee grounds, whisky, candied cherries, dry thyme and indeed vanilla, but less strong than I had expected. Candied sweetness in the mouth, raisin, candied cherry, hint marmelade, soft carbo (almost flat), thick and oily mouthfeel, thick nutty, caramelly and eventually very dark chocolatey maltiness with a soft roasted bitterness to it, coffeeish, with overwhelming liqueurish alcohol growing to great intensity in the end, as is the case with ’standard’ Black Tuesday; vanilla and peppery hops are there too, but the booze overpowers most other flavours in the very end. A bit over the top for me, like most of these super strong Bruery exclusivities, but seductively rich, too seductive not to enjoy it - this type of beers force you to very slow sipping in small quantities, and in that sense, they certainly deliver what they promise. This group of bottles during the Bottle Share was amazing and outstanding. Flavors and aromas of chocolate and dark fruits. So freaking good.

Boozy sweetness for the most part. A ton of vanilla, chocolate, toffee, cherries, all dipped in warm bourbon. Alcohol is hidden very well (under all that sugar). Its thick and syrupy. Low carb. Un grand merci à Dominique pour le partage! Cette bière est décadente, peu subtile, intense...j’aime ça! D’abord le liquide est loin d’être noir. Celui-ci est brun foncé et même peu opaque. Surprise. Est-ce le vieillissement en barriques qui en aurait aminci les des courbes? Possible. Avec cette absence de mousse et un pinceau de lumière qui perce le liquide, j’anticipe soudainement une bière plus mince et moins riche que prévu. Nez de gâteau forêt noire, de chocolat noir, de malts légèrement torréfiés et d’un alcool chaud de sud américain. Les 18% d’alcool on les sent! En bouche, l’attaque est dirigée par un chocolat noir mesuré. Ça ne goûte pas le chocolat artificiel et bon marché d’un calendrier de l’avant. L’alcool prend rapidement le dessus au rythme où le chocolat se métamorphose en caramel vanillé.
