COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bourbon Barrel Aged Cornwine.
Colonel Kernel is a bourbon barrel-aged barleywine-style ale with corn. Think of it as sticky caramel corn served out of a toasty bourbon barrel, but without the kernels to stick in your teeth. It’s best enjoyed while in uniform via a tulip or wine glass, unless you want an earful. Best stored and cellared around 55°F (13°C) in a dark place. Ideal serving temperature is 55°F (13°C).

750mL bottle, two years old, shared by AdamC on 7/29/17.
Clear, bright cherry red-tinted auburn/amber with a small, rapidly fleeting, butter-colored head.
Surprisingly not harsh, stripping, hot, fuel-like, estery, etc...in the nose but rather full of light corn whiskey, strong oak (moderate but not-overdone toast). Long, lingering butter toffee is highly enjoyable, as it mixes with spicy vanilla and other bourbon/whiskey aromatics. Some inevitable sharpness/grain/fusel on the very end, but it's shockingly light. Tons of fruit, toffee, corn, vanilla and whiskey lingering long.
In the mouth it's a little less impressive though that's mostly on account of the surprisingly thin, watery, abrupt-finishing body. Vanilla and toffee that work so well together in the nose fall rather flat amidst loose carbonation, moderate graininess and lots of alcohol collecting on the finish. Corn, toasted oak (think pina colada) and more bread and caramel linger on with lots of warmth.

Ogromnie dużo wanilii w aromacie. Bardzo słodki aromat, wręcz taki cukierkowy. W smaku likierowe, dużo słodkich owoców, kukułki, rodzynki. Bardzo intensywne, no i generalnie mocno bourbonowo słodkie. Jest też trochę miodowego utlenienia. Jak bym miał wskazać piwo, które idealnie imituje bourbon, to bym wybrał właśnie to. Zdecydowanie piwo to powolnego picia.

July 29, 2017 - bottle from membership. Muddy brown pour with some head. Aroma was strong bourbon, sweet malt, caramel and toffee. Taste was not as deep as the aroma, but had the sweetness and bourbon. Finish had a bit of grain and was a touch dry.

750 ml from Adams HS membership. Mild bourbon, mild corn, mild dark fruit. I also get grain, honey perhaps? The flavor for 14.8 % is pretty tame. Don’t get me wrong, the alcohol is here mildly in the finish. But not harsh. Caramel, honey, and yes a corn hint. Body seems a tad thin. Pretty nice.

Bottle, courtesy of Meilby. An unclear amber colored beer with a minimal sized off-white head. Rather alcoholic aroma with caramel, some woody, spiced hints, licorice notes, coconut, bread and some piney hops. It’s full-bodied, warming, even more warming, smooth and with a low level of carbonation. Boozy flavor with caramel, wood, vanilla and coconut, bread hints, coconut and vanilla. Lasting boozy finish. A bit too much this one, but it’s sure lots of goodyness going on here. 170604
