3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour a hazy brown, with a small white head.
Aroma of caramel, dark - bourbon-soaked fruits, vanilla, bourbon, slight leather, and even some grapefruit bitterness in this one. - perhaps some cinnamon? At least some spices in here.
The taste is quite sweet, with some bitterness to it as well. A little heat to it as well.
Medium bodied, with a semi-flat carbonation.
Bottle thanks to Denise! Pours dark muddy brown with a small offwhite head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, light nutty notes, booze. Taste has caramel, vanilla, dark fruits, light vinous tannic and subtle bitterness in the back. thepatrickman (1503) - Lewes, East Sussex, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2017
Tasted as part of a 7 year Bruery vertical, so it’s somewhat hard to give a rating, considering that most of the beers are aliased. So, here are my impressions: VsXsV (4560) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 18, 2017
Papier: Quite oxidized, which dominates the flavor. Still, it’s enjoyable as an old ale, and the malts still give off a nice toffee impression.:
Coton: Much less oxidized. Smooth and sweet, without really any heat from the alcohol. Drinks really nicely.
Cuir: This is probably right at the "sweet spot," at 5.5 years. No real oxidization, but all of the alcohol and hop bitterness from some of the younger batches is also tempered. Great, rich malty profile.
Fruet:Similar to Cuir, and also drinking nicely right now. Slightly perceptible hop bitterness.
Bois: Noticeably more aggressive than the batches from earlier years. Some alcohol heat coming through.
Sucre::The smooth malt sweetness from the earlier batches has been completely overwhelmed by alcohol at this point. Bitter and hot.
Cuivre: Even after a night of drinking big, flavorful beers, this made a strong assault on everyone’s taste buds. It’s over a year old, but the individual flavor threads (Malt, hop, esters, alcohol) are too overpowering. Hot -- give it a few more years!
What did I learn from drinking this many Bruery anniversary beers in one night? They definitely benefit from some aging -- I’d say that 4 to 6 years is probably their sweet spot, with the heat from the 15%+ ABV giving way to some nice sweetness at that point. Oh, and don’t do a tasting this intense on a Thursday.
Bottle, thanks t0rin0! Light hazy deep brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, toffee, raw sugar, port wine and red berries. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of bourbon, raw sugar, raisins and port wine. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice! Aged well. (The Bruery Coton) -As The Bruery Cuir- Bottle 750ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 14.5%. Bottled on 2011, bottle number 2351. hackobock (4095) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 15, 2016
Dark brown colour on the body, small tan head sitting on top, with good density though and average retention.
Aroma has lots of bourbon, caramel, dark fruits, prunes, alcohol, vanilla, wood, barrel character.
Taste is sweet with plenty of bourbon again, dark fruits, vanilla, raisins, prunes, dates, light chocolate even, toasted malts.
Medium body, soft carbonation, pretty sticky on the palate.
Very good and it has hold up very well, pretty easy to drink too in spite of the high ABV.
August 13, 2016. Bottles at Bruery Bonanza 2016 as Cuir and Papier. Thanks for sharing!

Dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is sweet, malty, boozy with caramel, raisins, prunes, dark sugar and alcohol. Taste is sweet, slight boozy and bitter. Finish is warming alcohol, sweet burnt caramel, raisins, some sherry notes and a touch of cardboard. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.
Papier showed more signs of oxidation and had too much cardboard notes and had a metallic touch to it.
Cuir was in better shape and just had minor cardboard notes.
A: Cloudy, deep brown coloured with a thin light brown lacing. N: Vanilla, figs, dates, bourbon, rye bread T: Dried fruits like figs, hint of apricot, aluminum, bourbon O: Decent. Have a bit problem with the metal mouthfeel... Homer321 (5202) - Melboring, Florida, USA - APR 17, 2016
Draft at Broken Barrel anniversary. Murky brownish pour with minimal head. Nose is papery with oxidation. Taste is slightly better. Super sweet raisins, overall ok. jackl (8446) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 19, 2016
