COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Poterie is French for “pottery”, the traditional eight-year anniversary gift. Our eighth anniversary ale, Poterie, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with our house yeast strain and then blended using the solera method. This means that a portion of each anniversary ale is saved in oak barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character as the years go by. The result is layered in robust and complex flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Poterie will age gracefully for decades when cellared properly.

Editor’s Note: This is the entry for The Bruery’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Anniversary beer.

In Claremont, CA for short visit. Into Stolzle tulip glass from 750ml. Fine pour; a very deep brown with a light tan head that stands up for a bit, but settles to a perimeter of bubbles quickly, as with many barleywine-type high-alc beers. This beer exhibits depth and span on all fronts. Rich with fruit, but balanced by chocolate and port, and even some Coca-Cola notes. However, it doesn’t lose touch with barley--that underlying element is always apparent. Fruet is warm and viscous, but the alcohol doesn’t dominate (I don’t think I’d ever guess 15.5%!). Bottom line, it’s a beer of true complexity. One of the best super-gravity beers I’ve had.

Saule 2017. Masa burbonu, ale i masa alko. Masa kandyzowanych ciemnych owoców, rodzynki, figi. Bardzo fajne piwo, ale mocno alkoholowe niestety.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2018 Fajna beczka choć przesadzony alkohol. Barwa i piana ok. W smaku słodycz ale i ostre alko. Potem wanilia, karmel, melano, przyjemne ale zbyt alkoholowe.

Piana nieduża, sycząca, szybko znika. Barwa miedziano burgundowa, klarowna.
Reasumując piękne piwo, top 3 z The Bruery.

(bottle) Aroma: vanilla, bourbon, caramel, boozy.. Appearance: brownish color, small head. Taste: sweet, flavour of bounty bar, caramel, fudge, light frutiness, looong coconut-like aftertaste. Palate: full body, bit boozy ,low carbonation. Overall: Crazy stuff, its like drinking coconut milk with fudge and caramel. Yummy :D
