Bottle from 2012 shared Friday night. Deep thick black color with a small quickly dissipating tan head. Huge molasses roast and chocolate with a fair bit of hazel nuttiness still evident. Solid warming alcohol never gets harsh, Very well made huge sipping beer.

Notes of chocolate, dark malts, oak, vanilla, toasted grain, roast, caramel, toffee, bourbon and hazelnuts. Full body. Nice.

Draft at Snallygaster 2015. Poured a medium dark, close to black but not quite, color with a tan head. Velvet. Chocolate syrup. Boozy vanilla, nutty notes. Very smooth. Alcohol is most certainly there, boozy, but not terribly boozy like some high ABV beers I’ve had, these beers seem to be hit or miss, and thankfully this was a big enough hit to recommend. This was a boozy, vanilla, sweet nutty notes. Now I have diabetes. Could they pull this off with half the alcohol? I’d love to try that one...
