Craft Clerkenwell Tasting. Big thanks to Jose. The wax was permeated with an amazing nose of quality praline that only got stronger when the top was flipped. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Good pale tan head. Palate is comparatively light, smooth too. Chocolate - brandy liquer, a little spicy. The hazlenut praline vibe is much more supressed which is a shame but this is still a very nice big booze monster. Finshes smooth.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell - many thanks to Jose for bringing this one. Pours deep brown with a fine, creamy off-white head. Very sugary dark malt aroma, some gooey dark malts, suggestions of chocolate. Big sweet flavor, boozy but not as intense as you might expect, some sticky chocolate and ripened dark fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot finish but, again, not bad for the strength of the beer, with more sticky chocolate, sugary dark malts, figs, dates, chocolate cake. Big, bold. It’s a big, boozy and sugary Bruery imperial stout - in small doses I like the stuff. Theydon_Bois (19545) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2013
Bottle split at CBC, big thanks to Jose for muelling this big bot over the pond, 26/06/13.
Mid black with a thin tan head which escapes edgeward.
Nose is booze, praline, dark chocolate, toffee, figs, rich.
Taste comprises dark roast malt, sugars, bitter chocolate, mineral notes, booze.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, slightly cloying on the palate, big boozey finish with some heat.
Decent affair for the ABV, a little over boozey to be one I’d go back to but great to try. mcberko (17854) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 13, 2014
750mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels, toasted hazelnuts, cocoa and vanilla. Flavour is surprisingly not a diabetes bomb, with bourbon, vanilla, moderate alcohol and toasted nuts. Somehow this isn’t cloyingly sweet like Black Tuesday and Chocolate Rain, though it gets sweeter and sweeter with every sip. Finishes with notes of orangey chocolate, with a boozy burn. Quite nice in very small amounts - my favourite of their stupid high ABV impie stouts, but that’s not saying much.

Bottle at Goulet’s. Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of bourbon, toasted hazlenuts, roast chocolate and vanilla bean. Full bodied. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 30, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2012 Black in color with no head. Smells very much like Black Tuesday. Alcohol, chocolate, slight hazelnut note, vanilla, and bourbon. Some oak, a bit of burnt sugar, dark fruit, and roast. Lots of alcohol, bourbon, and vanilla flavors. Some chocolate liqueur, mild hazelnut, light roast, coffee, and burnt sugar. The hazelnut comes through much more as it warms. Nice mouthfeel, slightly oily, in fact.. Dedollewaitor (16171) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 2, 2015

Bottle @ RBBWG 2015 shared by elmanana. Opaque pitch black color, very small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, huge bourbon, huge alcohol, and alcohol. And alcohol. So that says it all. Ferris (15413) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 11, 2015
