COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hottenroth Berliner Weisse is brewed in memory of Fred & Sarah Hottenroth, our founder, Patrick Rue’s grandparents. This tart, German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We use lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer. Almost an extinct style, we hope to help revive the Berliner Weisse in memory of two great people.

75cl on 2 occasions: shared by oldmanriver 2016ish, merci. And: course in the Rare beer [email protected] Couples a lemonade-smooth citric fruitiness to sweetish quark wheat, making for a subtle, more than complex, and unusually mature US "sour" with well-tempered brett. Easier to down than pay for a bottle on regular basis...Berliner Weisse is relatively straightforward to brew once the brett basics are cultivated and deserves to remain affordable, not "rare".

Bomber to tulip - pours clear with a bubbly champagne head, quickly dissipates, color like a dark white wine. Aroma of white grape peel, peaches, traces of barnyard funk. Spritzy on the tongue. Brett, lemon zest, light woodiness, more peach nectar, dry brett finish. Packs a ton for this abv.

Bottle. Hazy yellow-orange with a short-lived white head. Funky, tart aroma with tons of fruit. Heavily carbonated, really slick and light bodied with an abrupt fizzy finish. Tastes funky and fruity and lightly tart.

Wow -- tart and tangy for a low gravity beer. Aromas of honey, sour lemonade. The raspberry comes out on the palate, with a lemony, orange delicacy and a deep minerality.

On tap the the bruery tap room. Pours out a hazy straw topped with a fizzy head. Nose is tart fruit lemongrass wheat and some sweetness. Taste is more of the tart notes a nice light crisp lemon. I like the bruery low abv beers.

Bottle. Hazy golden with two finger head. Lightly tart with less lemon then other Berliners I’ve had. Solid wheat body with some fruity sweetness. Very nice balance.
