COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Mélange series is a playground for exploring flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. We had a particularly good time playing with nuts and BBLs in this winning blend of barrel-aged beers from our 2016 staff blending competition. Fueled by cheeseburgers and inspired by rocky road, we folded walnuts, cacao nibs from TCHO and vanilla into rich, bourbon barrel-aged barleywine and old ale to mimic the flavors of the rich, nutty dessert. Lactose was added to impart a marshmallow character and an extra creamy mouthfeel. We’re pretty nuts about it, and we think you will be too.

Piana nieduża, sycząca, od razu znika. Barwa miedziana, klarowna. Niska, głogowo alkoholowa goryczka, średnie do niskiego wysycenie.

750ml bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized tan head. A sour strong ale. Definitely sour. Bourbon, fruity, vanilla, chocolate, and brown sugar. Like the sourness.

I decided to take off more points. As an american strong this sucks. Its sour. Not supposed to be sour and a sour blend of barrel aged stouts and barleywines is gross.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks Alon. Clear red-amber. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, nuts, some chocolate, alcohol. Sweet flavor, milky, a bit sourish, with bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, a bit of chocolate. Rounded mouthfeel.

High Wycombe House Warming. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with decent fine carbonation. Smooth sweet malts. Vanilla sweetness. Fruity bourbon, quite strong and mildly spicy. Smooth bourbon finish. Good fun.

Bottle layed on by Gentle Ben (benh) up in his Ivory tower at Meadowbank. This fella came up early but captured my imagination. It’s a big heavy beer with exactly the right amount of Bourbon and I like that. Sweet toffee. Dry toffee. Vanilla and wotnot. In an evening that bragged some real heavyweight beers, this one captured my imagination.

On tap @ Bruery Terreux. Deep amber colored beer with a thin off-white head. Big time bourbon and barrel on the nose. Holy smokes. Has a whole lot of caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar. The cocoa and chocolate qualities are quite pronounced, particularly on the tongue. Certainly a sweet beer, but the nuts kind of mitigate that, it seems. Actually, the walnuts are really quite prominent here and I enjoy them in this beer. The mouthfeel isn’t quite what I’d expect for this...kind of thin, almost. Otherwise, pretty solid Bruery beetus style ale.
