COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Melange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.

2011, Batch 2, 15% ABV, 750ml into a tulip glass. Huge thanks to Rempo! A - Pours a murky dark brown body with a red tinge when held up to the light. Initial pour yields a nice one finger light tan head with large bubbles. Settles down quickly to a thick edging. Decent amount of lacing for this amount of abv. Sticky alcoholic legs that last forever. S - Big in every way. Molasses, dark caramelized fruit, bitter chocolate, leather, and huge bourbon notes of vanilla and oak. Sweet and spicy with some robust and savory notes. This beer is just all over the place, a complete diabetic complexity. Its smells so damn tasty though. I’ve had Cuir, and its very reminiscent of that but with more depth and a touch of stout notes. It does smell primarily like an old ale though. T - The taste is also massive. Super syrupy malt sweetness. Caramelized dark fruit, molasses, toffee, maple, and smokey leather. Like the nose, this leans toward the anniversary beer more so than the Black Tuesday and White Oak. Bourbon barrel notes of oak and vanilla on the finish along with a huge yet pleasant alcohol burn. I get the slightest hint of chocolate and coffee on the end as well, but its all about the fruit here. M - Thick, coating, chewy and syrupy. Medium level of carbonation. Huge booze warmth, but the thickness is really what holds back the drinkability. 15% is very well integrated though. O - A huge beer of massive complexity. I’ve only had Cuir on its own and I do detect a lot of those flavors. I was hoping for some more action from the Back Tuesday or the White Oak Sap. Its still an amazing beer and accomplishment though. The Bruery can work wonders with insanely high gravity thick brews. It lived up to my expectations for sure.

Shared at Woodshop 7. A bit less than the sum of its parts. Pretty strong and sweet with caramel and chocolate, hot barrel, nuts, and vanilla.

Served from a bottle at the Stone 16th Anniversary Celebration. The appearance is a cloudy sediment filled dark brown. Sweet malts and oak bourbon fill the nose. The flavors enter with a healthy dose of sweet malts followed by bourbon, oak, molasses, and buttery vanilla. Nice full lightly creamy and smooth mouth. Real good beer, would like to retry without the bottom dregs.

@ Dak’s party. Nearly black pour. A lot going on in this beer- cocoa, chocolate, some wood & vanilla. Even some soy sauce in there, too. Dark, pit fruits. Incredible! Hard to put into words.

750 ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a small beige head decreasing to a film. The aroma is sweet dark caramel, chocolate, cherry and dark fruits, port wine and molasses. The flavor was much of the same; sweet caramel, molasses, port wine, chocolate, wood, bourbon and vanilla. This is a big beer. Syrupy and smooth, this makes for a perfect sipper to end the night.

Reddish brown colour, diminishing off-white head. Aroma of red fruits, coffee, caramel, alcohol, wood, vanilla, bourbon and just a slight sour touch. Quite sweet flavour, wood, vanilla, alcohol and soy sauce. Full body. Sweet finish, bourbon, wood. Rather sticky.
Complex, heavy yet balanced brew.

Thanks for this one Matt! Nose is big alcohol and vanilla with some nutty aromas, cocoa, anise, and wood. Taste is similar and shockingly rich. Almost too rich. Very hot and full of oak, bourbon, nuts, coconut, anise, and fruity notes. A LOT going on in this brew. It was hard to finish a full glass due to the richness. Good stuff though.

Bottle, thanks to ericandersnavy. pours deep brown/black with tan head. aroma of anise, burnt malt, dark fruit and alcohol spice. Flavor is not much different and sweet...spicy! Mouth feel is heavy body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, solid stuff!

Bottle
Appearance -Cloudy deep brown, thin whopper-like lacing
Aroma - Chocolate, vanilla, wood, black licorice
Taste - Sticky malts, Swedish fish, bourbon, nutty

Of course, thanks to OmegaX for the bottle share. This brew was amazing, lots of sweet and sticky-malty flavors among smooth undertones. Nice and mellow with a delicately robust presence. Cheers!!!

Tasted on 12/26/11 from a waxed and capped 750mL bottle shared at a tasting. Pours dark brown with an orange tint, and a thin tan head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is sweet caramel and banana, maple, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, and a burning alcoholic heat. The flavor is the same with coconut and the vanilla a bit more powerful than on the nose. The body is full and creamy with average, smooth carbonation, and a long coconut and vanilla, maple, and caramel finish.
