Caramel brown in color... Aroma is fairly hoppy, sweet malts... Flavor is extremely hoppy for a barleywine... Citrus hops up front, caramel sweetness with bitter hops on the finish... Almost an ipa

Bottle, 06/19/2013.Pours dark mahogany with light tan creamy head, dies to a pillow of foam on the surface, lacing left behind. Aroma is dark caramel toffee and red fruits with resinous pine, sugary tangerine hop character. Taste is similar, up front dark caramel melding with brown sugar, citrus and pine, moderately bitter finish not over the top. Thick body, fairly balanced for what it is, very drinkable. Nice. 25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a big foamy head. Nose is tropical fruits, caramel and citrus. Medium body with a tingle. Taste is citrus peel and caramel; a perfect touch of hops. Excellent West Coast barleywine. kbutler1 (1382) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Bottle. Pours a dark copper brown color with a lively light tan head. Caramel, toffee, and dark fruit notes. medium mouthfeel. Slightly sweet start, caramel and toffee, malt backbone, minimal hop bitterness. Not bad. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Poured into a perfect pint.
3.5 A: Moderately hazed deep amber color. Three fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is good for the ABV and some spotty lacing is left.
4.0 S: Holy piss is this hoppy. No way I would identify this as a Bruery beer if smelled blind. Hops are foremost floral and herbal. Some citrus and earthiness to follow. Underneath there is a solidly toasty backbone with plenty of caramel and toffee. Light dark fruitiness to round things out.
3.5 T: Interesting. It’s not bad, but it has trouble finding its place. It’s not hoppy enough to be a DIPA, but it’s not malty enough to be a BW. It’s not even a hoppy barleywine or a malty DIPA. It’s somewhere between those two. Mild to moderate bitterness. Toasty malts, caramel, toffee, and maybe a touch of molasses. Dark fruits, raisins, and a touch of tobacco. Floral hops with light herbal and citrusy components. Again, it’s decent, but it confuses the palate and not in a good way.
4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Decently creamy, a bit chewy, and smooth enough. Booze is well hidden.
3.0 D: I think I summed this up already. Good, but confused.
