A - Served a cloudy red-brown with a thin finger of off-white head. The head fades fairly quickly leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet dark fruit with some caramel, Belgian yeast and some oak. T - Starts off with some sweet dark pitted fruit with some cherries, light oak and yeast. Through the middle, more rich malt flavors come through with a bit more yeast character. The finish is rich and malty with some yeast and dark fruit sweetness. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and fruity finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice American take on the Dubbel style. Could have used a bit more complexity.

Appearance: Pours a vibrant black cherry red with a lasting cap of tight tan bubbles.

Aroma: Lots of cherry, raisin, toast, slight gum and spice. Light cocoa too.

Taste: Very toasty up front, pumpernickel, cocoa, dark fruit.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied lively carbonation.

Overall: Tasty, fruity, bready and not too boozy. One of the better attempts at an American made Dubbel.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark choclate brown color with plum colored edges and a one finger beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Slightly medicinal aroma with roasted dark malt and vinous dark fruit. Theres a faint syrupy presence with hints of raisin, cherry, fig and other dark berries. Im also picking up some peppery spice. On the fuller end of medium bodiedwith a nice balance of zesty spice, vinous fruit, dark malt and alcohol. Theres also a slight medicinal, herbal and syrupy flavor/texture but it doesnt over power or get in the way too much. Hints of caramel and chocolate along with fig, raisin, grape and other dark berries. The ABV is very well hidden making this beer easy to drink. Pretty good but aside from mouthfeel there isnt much out of the ordinary going on here.
