A: The beer pours a cloudy golden orange with a nice frothy white head from the hand pump. Minimal lacing, however.
S: Smells like Mischief for the most part. Nicely hopped with excellent citrus notes as well as a pleasant floral quality. Various phenols, particularly pepper, with a touch of alcohol. There is a mild tart fruit aroma. I don’t get too much of the saffron, though.
T: More bitter than I had anticipated with a decent amount of pine as well as some citrus peel. Floral hops are prominent on the palate as well and there is a lot of yeast contribution. Pepper and coriander provide lots of spice notes and there is a hint of saffron. There is a subtle tartness that seems more indicative of tamarind, though. Fairly strong in alcohol, which I can’t recall Mischief having in the past.
M: Medium in body with a low and slightly creamy carbonation and mouthfeel.
D: I still prefer a good ol’ regular batch of Mischief, but this was a nice variation on it. A little too bitter and boozy, though.
