French for "without a paddle", Sans Pagaie is our take on a Belgian Kriek. We added an incredible amount of cherries (whole and pureed) to this sour blonde ale and then we decided to add more. The result is a well balanced fruited sour ale, perfect on its own, even better with a slice of chocolate cake. 5.8% ABV, Cellerable for up to 3 years.
Note: this is a different beer than the limited Bruery Sour Cherry Kriek

A steady pour into my Teku glass produces a 1/2 finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a bright, red, almost pink, tinged gold color that shows a brilliantly clear, pale red tinged, copper hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of lactic acid, light cherry skins, a touch of yogurt like character, a hint of woody mushroom, and perhaps a hint of grain character. After the second, murkier pour, the beer gets a touch yeasty, and perhaps a touch of hay like grain.

The beer is amply tart, and has a bright fruitiness that leans more towards pomegranate, tropical fruit skin notes, some cherry skin notes and a light cherry fruit flavor. Very cleanly lactic, with an almost yogurt like flavor. There is a persistent, medium level of carbonation here that adds some prickly texture to this quite light bodied beer; there is a touch of lactic slickness here that keeps this from being watery.

Quite clean tasting, lightly fruity, lactic and quite tart. A good beer, that is technically well executed, but lacks dimensionality, depth, and / or complexity that would make it a great beer.

August 13, 2016. Bottle at Bruery Bonanza 2016. 2013 edition.
Cloudy dark orange with a very small white head. Aroma is fruity and tart with cherries, peach, apricot skins, lemon notes, touch of spices. Taste is sour and fruity. Finish is dry and sour, a light touch of vinegar, lemon, tart cherries. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation.
Fruity and refreshing, a bit too sour finish.

From notes. Poured cloudy peach with a short white head. The aroma picked up sour oak, cherry, and other fruity notes with some deeper, darker backing. The flavor found sour oak and cherry notes over dry bready malts.. more oak and darker cherry vinegar on the long, sour finish. Sour throughout with lots of barrel presence.. very good overall.

Pour is a murky dirty orange with a small amount of white head that fizzes away immediately. Nose is a bit medicinal, strong cherry aroma, band-aid brett. Flavor is harsh, highly acidic, moderate acetic acid, some cherry puree, and some band-aid brett. High carb, lighter body, dry finish.

Pours a strawberry blonde. Aromas of oak and tart fruit. Taste is extremely tart. Flavors of soured fruit, yogurt, oak. This will remove the fucking enamel from your teeth. Kind of vinegar-y. Finish is super tart. Wow. Not the best but extremely sour.

Like many of their sours, I just dont find much complexity here. Citrus sour, just like the rest of them. Not as abrasive as some.

Pretty red in color with a deep cherry aroma. Flavor is sour with a musty cherry blanket, sour grapes, and a heavy but pleasant finish.
