Smoked Imperial Rye Porter aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. A rich porter layered with rye spiciness and earthy smoke, caramel-like flavors, roasty malt and oaky deliciousness.
Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in rye whiskey barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile. This is one of our favorite beers at the moment, we hope you agree.

Pours a tad thinner than one might expect for a 13% ABV barrel aged beer. Theres no discernible head on top of this black beer with very dark brown highlights. The aroma is like a peaty scotch whiskey... smokey, savory, and mildly spicy. On the palate, this develops really well. Starts out dominated by a smokey bacon flavor but as you drink more of it, your palate moves past the smoke and you pick up on a very nice, sweet barrel aged porter. There are the typical vanilla, chocolate, whiskey, etc flavors but theyre balanced out by the tang of the savory smokiness. This exceeded my expectations wildly.

2014 vintage on tap at Park Burger RiNo. Black pour with no head. Huge bomb of an aroma featuring smokey oak, star anise, black licorice, black roast malt and black pepper. Surprisingly smooth and delightful flavor thats sliky, dark chocolate malty sweet, peppery, smokey, Oaked, with star anise and light licorice and light smokey booze and more bittersweet dark chocolate. Amazeballs.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a nice medium size dark brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some light smokey notes and some rye whiskey notes is pretty awesome. Taste is also a very well balanced mix of smokey notes with some rye whiskey notes, some woody notes, some black chocolate and plenty of residuals sugar notes. Body is full with nice creamy undertones and good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. I like how the smoke notes are well balanced against the other flavours. Very compel and one great nightcap.

Opaque black brown, minimal tan head. Molasses, vanilla. Light toasted cereal grains, some darker roasted coffee. Toffee. Some bitterness, mostly sweet and smoky. Pretty upfront alcohol. Heavier body, quite chewy. Very little carbonation. A bit of oiliness. Long, long finish developing towards back of the mouth. Quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have a nice roasted malt, smoked wood, cherrywood is especially noticeable, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, more spicy rye than the bourbon version which makes sense, big beer without being overpowering, enjoyable.

Smoking Wood Rye Whisky 10%so I guess it was the 2011 vintage. A deep black with ruby highlights and a filmy beige head. Smoked cherry, BBQ sauce and some mild medicinal character. Soft mouthfeel and medium bodied. The taste is smokey, BBQ sauce, cherry, piquante but sweet and balanced. I enjoyed it, now where are my nuggets?

Black cola pour thanks to Lincoln. Aroma is subtle smoke, oak. Taste is vanilla, smoke, oak, very mild bourbon. Dont dig this one but then not much for smoked beers generally.

Bottle 1 Pint 9.4 Fl. oz. @Naintr. With dad and Cyril during a "palet" game. A shining pitch black beer with a medium creamy beige head ; good retention. First, roast and toast, light smoke, light alcohol. Then through tasting, coffee like in ice-cream, chocolate, wood, dark fruits. Medium sweet, round but also warming ; well-balanced ; light bitter. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, chocolate coffee sweet warming lasting finish. Overall, delicious like a good coffee ice-cream, powered with chocolate, added with some drops of good peat-whisky.
