Ever accidentally blend two brews, curse a bit, and then smile when tasting the excellent result? Us too. Smooth Criminal is the splendid result of moving a bit too quickly in the brewhouse. An accidental addition of Saison De Lente to a fermenter full of our anniversary ale led us to ask "Anni, are you okay?" She was. Smooth Criminal showcases rich malt, flavorful hops, and oaky goodness in a harmoniously unique ale.

Bottle at the DC Gathering. From the Reserve Society. Dark brownish with light beige head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, dark fruit. Tastes of dark fruit, light herb, caramel, malt, chocolate. Medium body with a dry finish.

Bottle. Clear deep golden amber brown color, flat. Aroma of candied caramel. Taste is boozy spiced caramel. Sweet stuff.

Bule (2311) - California, USA - SEP 28, 2015
750ml bottle pours a dark brown color without much head. Huge burnt toffee flavor. Bourbon is a little harsh.

mcberko (19886) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 31, 2015
750mL bottle, pours a filthy dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is hugely malty, with loads of bourbon barrels and caramel. Flavour is similar, with highly sweet caramel and bourbon barrels that accentuate everything. Fairly yeasty as well which muddies things up a bit. Good, but needs some refining.

Ferris (17173) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle - Caramel and tons boozy notes with some coconut. Hazy gold with a decent beige head. Butterscotch, stone fruit and booze. Not bad, but a bit too much booze.

sebletitje (10502) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 13, 2015
Bottle share @ Cycle, St. Pete.

jbruner (5476) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - APR 7, 2015
Pours a hazy brown from the bottle with thin ring of tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma is big dark fruit and caramel sweetness with big notes of bourbon. Taste follows, saison is definitely hidden but a great happy accident overall. Glad to have shared it and not taken the whole thing solo.

olr1984 (1500) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 24, 2015
750ml bottle pours a cloudy hazy brown with a small off white head. very sweet with a dried fruit and slight bourbon taste.

AirForceHops (8037) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 31, 2014
750 ml bottle from the RS. No head on a market brown liquid. Aroma is bourbon soaked raisins, English malts, caramel drenched figs and vanilla.

The flavor is mild oak, very smooth bourbon, light toasted malts, deep dark fruits tones and plenty of lingering bourbon. This has a very mild bourbon warming sensation after the sip but no where near what you would think for a 15 % brew. Very smooth, body is on the fuller side, no sticky sweetness. Jeez, this is good!
