3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 15, 2014 Pour is almost completely flat, mouthfeel is totally dead, which amplifies the sourness into a real esophagus-wrecker. Aroma way less vibrant than base beer, has a muddled fruit juice character that might be good if the beer had carbonation but...it doesn’t. I’d like to say I drank even 6oz of this but...I couldn’t get it down. Such a shame, hope to one day rerate this with something close to a 5 than a .5.
Now I’m drinking a carbonated bottle. The tartness us a bit overwhelming but this a pretty tasty beer.

Pours a slightly hazy, somewhat murky-looking, overripe-apricot-beige with dark copper hues. Beige-tinted head atop is small and recedes to cover/ring quickly.
Juicy and even somewhat mineral-driven, in the nose with a fair bit of acetic acid mixing with lactic acid and moderate malt behind it (honey, bread, light caramel). The fruitiness takes away from the base beer's similarity to a lambic nose, but not in a negative way. It lightens it and gives it more of a juicy, fruity, American fruited sour character. Some alcohol on the finish and a bit more toasted oak than I'd prefer, but the base beer is quite spectacular and the fruit is done quite well here.
Heavily juicy and rich though not sugary/cloying and despite the acetic/lactic combination, it's not overdone. Still, it's puckering on the end with lots of mineral, earth and tannin from both fruit and wood. Reasonable attenuation and engaging carbonation provide a slick-to-soft texture. Acidity builds but never overly fatigues the palate. Fruit is well-integrated and provides another layer not seen in the base beer, even if I slightly prefer the clarity of that one.
23-09-17 // bottle shared at Zwanze Day 2017 @ Mon Petit Café Stuttgart. Thanks for sharing! Murky orange. Aroma of tangerine, orange, Kumquat, medium sour, tart and dry. Great. koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - OCT 27, 2017
From notes. Enjoyed at Doug’s house on October 05. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a cloudy amber golden color with a thick white head that slowly makes its way down to nothing, leaving no lace actually. This is pretty interesting. The aroma is definitely sour with a good fruitiness about it. There is a hint of apple skin and a light stone fruit joining up with a light oak and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is just as good. The complexity of the fruit is nice. Kumquat, stone fruit, apple skins, it all balances together with a hint of alcohol and a nice lingering sourness that makes you want to keep drinking. The mouth feel is light and clean with a brighter carbonation and a lingeringly fruity and sour finish. This has a little oak on the back end, but it’s pretty solid. I like it. 7 4 7 4 15 _angst_ (5009) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2017

Draft at Mon Petit Cafe, Stuttgart. Full of fruity notes, iranges, tangerines and something else (probably kumquats). Very sour, tart, funky, balanced with fruity notes and oak. Amazing.

750 ml bottle from Adams HS membership. 2016 vintage. Dirty orange / Amber color, low carbonation level. Aroma of citrus, tart kumquat. Maybe hints of acid. Flavor is rather tart, not massively sharp but puckering. Not a whole lot of acid (which I am happy about) The body is medium with a solder mouthfeel. Pleasantly tart and not to much for my palate. Nice. ABUSEDGOAT (2901) - California, USA - APR 24, 2017
2016 bottle. Cloudy amber colored with a white head. Aroma is sour with vinegar, kumquat, acidic, light caramel. Medium bodied, moderate to high sourness, sweeter than some of their other offerings. Like the other sours from The Bruery I couldn’t finish it as it makes my chest tighten. Can’t explain it really, but it’s still a tasty sour otherwise. ansalon (4219) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - FEB 17, 2017
