COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour in the Rye is an American wild ale. A challenging beer to brew due to the substantial amount of rye malt, but youll be glad we took the time. The character of the rye asserts itself with clove and pepper in the aroma and flavor, and contributes a full body not generally found in sour beers. Pleasantly sour with notes of tart cherry, rustic earth and vanilla notes from a year-plus of barrel aging.

Slightly cloudy amber beer with a distinct orange hue and a thin, virtually non-existent, off-white head that disappears immediately. Sour, funky nose of rice wine vinegar, lemon juice, and heady spice. Flavor is quite sour dominated by a puckering lemony explosion in the mouth followed by layers of spice, including clove, cinnamon, and cardamon. Finishing with a slight bitterness that barely cuts through the sour funk, this is an interesting Belgian style sour ale, but the rye is essentially lost.

Bardzo agresywne, żytnie słody jeszcze podbijają charakterną kwasowość. Dużo lacto, delikatne bretty, jakieś czerwone owoce... Dobra, acz wymagająca rzecz.

The smell is sour/tart fruit, peaches, lemon...the look is dirty blonde. The taste is just like it smells tart, sourness strong peach taste for me, but the sour is followed by a spicy hit after the swallow that shocked me, a good shock. I really like this one, could use a little more ABV though.

Bottle - 750mL crowned. Bottled on 4/14/15. Hazy amber with a short white head. Spicy and sour up front with big tart fruits and wood. Taste is BOLD sour fruit, sour yogurt, wet wood, light spicy rye and earthy notes. Body is medium with a dense, prickly carbonation and strong acidic feel on the palate. Dry finish as well. Ends with more bold sour fruit notes, lemon juice, funky fruit, oak earthy notes, faint vanilla and light spicy rye. VERY SOUR!
