Very dark brown pour, tan head. Finally a tart of darkness that I liked! The cherry and vanilla take away some of the tart malty notes that I find a bit offensive in this style. Sour, but not puckering. Very tasty brew.

Bottle: Mild gusher. Murky, super swampy & exceedingly dark brown color, light-tan colored, fuzzy head that fades quickly to a collar. Aroma includes sour lacto, musty & wet oak, cherry skin, a small touch vanilla, & some tart redcurrant. Slight inclusion of roasted malt on the base, but it’s mostly a sour doozy. Taste... Wow! Great. Very, very sour! Balsamic vinegar soaked cherry skins, light oaky cinnamon notes, slight tannins, a bigger vanilla presence on the palate with an acidic, sharp finish of lemon, cherry, & vinegar. Nice woody presence, start to finish. Lingering vinegar notes & a strong lingering lactic tartness, with a touch of yogurt. Puckering finish. This isn’t a stout, this is a sour brown. A damn tasty one, at that.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is cherry skin, oak, vanilla, roast. Medium mouthfeel with nice vanilla, tart cherry, light oak, sweet finish. Very impressive.

On tap at the Bruery. Aroma is rather unique with some dark fruit sour notes and light chocolate and roast. Medium light caramel and toffee with light oak notes. Not much vanilla, but the cherry and vanilla seem to help round out the vinegar like acidity the the regular version exhibits. Pours a murky brown with light brown and ruby hues. No head or lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with balanced tartness that gets stronger in the finish. Medium chocolate notes with light roast, toffee and caramel. Faint vanilla and medium light cherry with moderate berry notes. Hint of alcohol and light oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, while the vanilla is faint it and the cherry add a nice complexity that helps round out the acidity that I find a bit sharp in the regular version.

Great, Incredible Superb. Huge Tart cherries coming in like wrecking balls against your palate on first sip, quite sour but good. Incredible palate, smooth but not watery. After the cherries, lightly roasted malt, sour falls away and vanilla lingers on the finish, slightly tanniny with oak as well.

Tap. Dark brownish red hue with off white head. Aroma is lactic, cherry, oak, vanilla, cereal. Crisp carbonation and medium body. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a tart sourness. Overall this is a fantastic brew.

Bottle. Pours between burgundy and black. Lots of vanilla on the nose -- smells like a bakery treat, big time dessert aroma. Almost getting some cinnamon stick in there. Taste has roasted malt flavors, more vanilla, sweet cherry, acetic sour finish. Pretty good but a bit much -- I prefer the straight version and I also preferred the cacao / vanilla version. Still dig it.

On tap @ The Bruery. Just about black in color with a fizzy khaki head. Sour lemon juice, cherry, and some lemongrass. Roast, dark chocolate, and coffee. Slight vanilla and oak. Lots of cherry and lemon sourness to the flavor. Slightly acetic. Tons of roasted malt and dark fruit. Mild vanilla, caramel, and chocolate sweetness. Slight coffee and grass.
