COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tart of Darkness is a traditional stout that we aged in used oak barrels from The Bruery that had previously housed beers such as Cuivre™ or Black Tuesday®. We then brought them over to Bruery Terreux, added our special blend of souring bacterias and wild yeasts and watched nature take its course. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty, sour stout. Not a style you will see very often, and in our opinion, not a style seen often enough. This unique stout has notes of tart plums, roasted coffee, vanilla and oak.

Pours black with minimal, nearly non-existant, light tan head. Aroma of cherries, wood, dates, figs, raisins, light chocolate, and bretta. Taste is fairly heavy cherry tart, light chocolate and vanilla notes in the background, then a loooong sour finish. Body is light and crisp with average to lively carbonation.

Bottle shared by Nick, thanks! Pours coca cola amber with a off white head. Aroma is potent acetic, cherry, oak. Taste is really tart and cherry and oak. It’s very much like a good Flemish red. Just my style.

Pours a dark black like oil, with minimal head. Cocoa, tartness, sour cherries, and some other dark fruit on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes tart and long.

2013 7%- aroma with tartness, cherries, some cocoa. Pours a deep black with no head retention. Nice complex profile, unripe apricot, funk, earth, horse blanket, nice acidity and mouthfeel. Really good

750mL bottle. Pours a dark brown with an airy off-white cap that vanishes quick. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, cookie, and sour funk. Taste is sour and tart, with a late sweetness. Low carbonation, dry and sticky mouthfeel.

Black with a small brown head - Sour malt aroma with roasted malt, wood and some notes of vinegar - Sour malt body with some roasted malt, fruits and some Wood - The gentle sourness goes into a long finish with some roasted malt notes - This was real good

Torrefacto (1737) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAY 16, 2014

Bottle. Near black with tan head that falls to nothing. Funky aroma, lambicy, coco cola, dark berries. Taste of blackberry, blackcurrant, funky lambic notes. Puckeringly tart. Delish

Nice. Sour plum and cherry. Doesn’t really taste that much like a stout anymore, not like others that have gone this route. No element of roast really. Finishes medium sour. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Tap at Meridian Pint.

Sampled at the bottle sharing prior to Dark Lord Day 2014. It poured into my glass a dark brown color with a light tan head.Nose of dark roasted malts, berries, and some sourness. Medium plus body. Flavor is of the sour berry, wood aging, and the finish is tart, sour, and dry. Really unique and good, but I do not think I could drink much of this.
