COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monastic breweries wrote the book on complex ales that weave notes of dark fruits, spices, caramelized character and warmth into each sip. The Order summons that tradition and adds local inspiration. Our darkening, Belgian-inspired abbey ale features dark-fruited character from dates, Belgian-style sugars and subtle spicing from coriander, which compliments the Belgian yeast esters.

Bottle. Hazy dark reddish brown with amber highlights and a fizzy khaki head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits, banana, toasted caramel, coriander and toffee. Tastes moderately sweet and fruity with just a hint of alcohol. Pretty full bodied. Good stuff.

Klasse!

ineedbeer (2175) - Oakland, California, USA - JUL 30, 2017
Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is rather fruity with lots of date notes as well as raisin, prune and faint banana. Medium caramel and toffee nuts with hints of toasted bread and nuts. Light alcohol spice. Some light coriander and clove notes. Pours brown with some dark amber hues and a medium large, fairly thick, tan head that shows nice retention as it steadily recedes. Light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of caramel, toffee and sugar. Light toasted bread and nut notes. Moderate fruit notes with dates most prevalent but also some raisin, prune and faint hints of cherry. Light coriander and clove notes. Light bitterness with medium light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but certainly not an amazing one. It’s too sweet and fruity for me; really cloyingly sweet.

750ML bottle Dark brown with hints of orange ruby on the sides. Thick light tan head. Excellent retention. Some spotty lacing. Subtle AVB legs. nose is fresh fig, chocolate, very Belgian nose as get some bubblegum and candied sugar aroma. Taste is pretty straight forward. Belgian chocolate, fresh fig, raisin, subtle spice. Little bit of a warmed muddled spiced orange finish. Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Not as complex as Other Belgians but this is what the Bruery does well and succeeds at. Good replica of a Belgian style beer

Rating #2496 - 2017.07.25 - 750mL Bottle from @beerblast. Pours a reddish amber-brown, with a creamy tan cap, luxurious retention in tulip. Aroma is fig jam, plum pudding, almonds, and dates. Low-medium carbonation. Lots of soft fruit sweetness and nutty texture, lovely Belgian Strong. I’d pour it for any of my secret society meetings.

Bottle 750ml @ Sommerhuset
Pours hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, alcohol and dried fruits like raisin, dades and pruns. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, dried fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft

The aroma is sweet, dates, caramel, Belgium yeast. Pours a copper/brown with light beige head, mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is medium sweet. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation fizzy and the finish long. Pretty good!
