COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monastic breweries wrote the book on complex ales that weave notes of dark fruits, spices, caramelized character and warmth into each sip. The Order summons that tradition and adds local inspiration. Our darkening, Belgian-inspired abbey ale features dark-fruited character from dates, Belgian-style sugars and subtle spicing from coriander, which compliments the Belgian yeast esters.

This was pretty underwhelming all around. A bit too sweet, the flavor just isnt that enjoyable. It feels too alcoholic and bland. Big disappointment

Aromas of belgian yeast dark fruits amber malts, candi sugar toffee dates, figs, cinnamon brown sugar and bready malts. Pours a deep brown with a very thin tan foam and moderate lacing. Taste offers delicious Belgian yeast, candied caramel, candi sugar, toasted sugars, creme brulee, bready malts, toffee, dark fruits, dates, prunes, raisins and brown sugar. Finishes moderately boozy with carbonated fruity esters. Overall, this brew is assertively carbonated and you will notice that. It is still very enjoyable and boasts really unique flavors. A rating.

The smell is sweet, spicy, the look is Belgian brown, the taste is spicy, sweet, malty, dark fruit such as plum, raisins, good size ABV. Not a lot of burn, but the spices really hit you after the swallow. Solid beer.

Appearance: clear brown with one fat finger of fluffy beige head, moderate retention and lacing. (4/5) Aroma: Demerara sugar, dates, dark fruit and red berries, light bubblegum, hint of coriander. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter, light peppery spice. (8/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, sweetish medium duration finish. (4/5) Oh yeah - with the name, and the labels stained glass effect, when I first smelled this? It was some Ozzy Centre of Eternity shit. Surprisingly light in the body, and for that matter, in colour (the brewery claims 30 SRM but theres no way thats true). Decent depth and complexity of flavour, and little to no hint of the double digit ABV, until it puts you on your ass. Im not entirely sure whether this is best characterized as a BSDA or an Abbey Dubbel (or maybe even an Abt/ Quad), but either way its my kind of monster. (16/20) 8/10 #ryansbooze ryansbooze.com

Lighter and fruitier than expected, though the spice is nice. Dont think twice, roll the dice.

reebtogi (6149) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 31, 2017
750ml capped bottle pours amber in color with 2 fingers of beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with some caramel, herbs and spice. Taste is a dark fruity and caramel malty sweetness with a spicy and herbal hop bitterness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a well crafted brew that is true to style, balanced and tasty. Recommended.
