COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monastic breweries wrote the book on complex ales that weave notes of dark fruits, spices, caramelized character and warmth into each sip. The Order summons that tradition and adds local inspiration. Our darkening, Belgian-inspired abbey ale features dark-fruited character from dates, Belgian-style sugars and subtle spicing from coriander, which compliments the Belgian yeast esters.

Hazy dark amber under a thick ivory cap. Brisk herbal winter spiced aroma with a touch of sage and clove. Smooth Belgian slightly dark malty flavor with a light herbal touch throughout with a light clove and light bubblegummy Belgian undertone thats slightly abbeyd and gently herbal. Nice and complex, tasty and gently dark and approchable. Doesnt taste a bit like 10%.

Sample at 101 Beer Kitchen during "The Bruery" event on 02/22/2017. This beer is a cloudy reddish-orange color with a medium foamy off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, yeast, spice and malt. Full body with flavors of raisins, Belgian yeast, malt and spice. The finish is fruity yeast and malt. Pretty good overall.

Opaque brown pour with a huge beige head. Tons of sticky lacing. Aroma is strong date, spice, bread, caramel, and yeast. Taste is date, caramel, yeast, and dark fruit, but there is a metallic note in there that throws things off. Medium body.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Reddish brown appearance with a fluffy, lingering, tan head. Aroma of fruity esters, Belgian yeast, herbal spice, candy sugar, light caramel malt and light bread. Similar flavor, rich, fruity, yeasty and spicy with just a hint of alcohol. Medium to full body with a lasting, herbal/spicy finish. Good.

Its like my uncle, who claimed to be a monk, once said " remember billy (my name is not billy) when youre about to engage in the act of insemination, always wash your hands before and especially after" .. A mild Belgian offering, bruery can do much better.
