March 22, 2014 - on tap at Bruery tasting room. Light cloudy orange pour with limited head. Aroma was spice, yeast and coconut. Taste was consistent with aroma. Smooth to drink and creamy. kegbear (436) - Orange, California, USA - MAY 9, 2011
Tap at The Bruery. The vanilla was very subtle and appeared more in the nose than the taste. Very good. brokensail (16609) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 7, 2011
A: The beer pours a cloudy golden orange color with almost no head, even with the hand pump.
S: Quite a funky nose on this, but that might just be because I haven’t had Trade Winds in awhile... Lots of herbaceous qualities from the basil, but I don’t get too much coconut, just a hint of sweetness. Sweet malt and fruit with notes of pineapple and lemon zest.
T: Mild hints of sweet coconut, but there is a little bit of vanilla and some other sweet tropical fruits, especially pineapple. The Thai basil really comes through quite strong as do some grassy hop notes and a mild bitterness.
M: Medium in body with a low, smooth carbonation.
O: Interesting. I’m not the hugest Trade Winds fan, but I thought this was pretty decent.
