The primary component of our “White Oak” ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as “White Oak Sap.” Essentially a “summer” barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, we’ve added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate…hence the name.
2015 Release = 16.6% ABV. ABV varies by vintage.

ciocanelu (3195) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - JAN 18, 2018
Really hazy dark orange color with creamy off-white head. Aroma has malt sweetness with vanilla, sugar syrup and some toffee. Taste is sweet with vanilla notes, cocoa powder and woody bourbon barrel, even a bit zesty on the finish. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Quite tasty and intense but a bit difficult to drink.

tmoreau (4816) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 17, 2018
Shared 750 ml., 2017 bottle poured to snifters showing a hazed, orangey/gold color, a modest layer of off white froth, with dots & dashes of foamy lacing. The nose was tangy fruit that was mellowed by cocoa, barrel induced hints of vanilla & coconut, and a touch of sweet, pipe tobacco scent. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, the taste was similar, with a strong but slightly subdued alcohol presence, and added tartness & tanginess. Interestingly bizarre.

Bottle, 75cl. 2017 vintage 13.8%. Shared by meilby. A lightly unclear dark golden colored beer with a dense off-white head leaving lacing. Sweetish aroma with cocoa, vanilla and bourbon notes. Malty too. It's full bodied and warming, with a soft carbonation. Malty flavor with cocoa, vanilla and a touch of booze. Lasting finish. Delicious indeed, needs to be shared. 171231

Malteser beer, artificial, thick, and strong. Not oppressive but not great.

wombat23 (2168) - Texas, USA - DEC 19, 2017
Shared 750ml bottle. Pours gold with an off-white head. Aroma of oak and bourbon. Taste is mainly bourbon, with oak and vanilla notes. Not picking up the cacao. As with many barrel-aged beers, bourbon is way too strong and overpowers the characteristics of the underlying beer.

darbeer75 (1160) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - DEC 19, 2017
Aroma: lots of bourbon; Appearance: murky brown pour with creamy offwhite head that lingers; Taste: tons of bourbon and oak; white chocolate disappointingly absent; Palate: heavy body with long, oaky finish; Overall: a bit harsh and overly boozy; would probably not get again.

tennisjoel (1508) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - DEC 16, 2017
Murky orange gold in body with particalia (floaties) present. Thicker head but quickly diminishes. Nose of oak, bourbon, vanilla, biscuit. Flavor exposes some honey and apricot. Alcohol is well masked for this high abv brew. A little bourbon heavy, but the flavors work well together. Fun brew.
