The primary component of our White Oak ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as White Oak Sap. Essentially a summer barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, weve added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolatehence the name.
2015 Release = 16.6% ABV. ABV varies by vintage.

Had a weird pretzely element to it that I wasnt a fan of. The vanilla and chocolate didnt come through against the overbearing bourbon and honey sweetness. Disappointed, would like to try again in a non-festival setting. EBF 2013.

More vanilla than chocolate which does indeed give it a "white chocolate" vibe which IMO is not really a positive. More cacao nibs, please! Other than that, its rich and smooth and much more complex than real white chocolate.

Draft. Pours golden cloudy. The taste is bourbon and some vanilla. Not much of a "chocolate " taste.

Bottle, from Highcraft Beer Market. 2017 edition 13.8 abv. Good aroma. Sweet, vanilla, bourbon, oak. Tad hazed brownish orange color. Ok head, faded quickly, no lace. Very sweet flavor. Heavy body, thick creamy oily mouthfeel, hot sweet finish. Pretty darn good. You gotta like sweet and oak.

750ml capped bottle pours a pale amber color with 2 fingers of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla with some bourbon and alcohol notes. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with the vanilla and a mild spicy bitterness finishing with bourbon and an alcohol burn. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely crafted brew that is well balanced and unique to the style. Recommended.

750ml bottle shared with Jo and Seb. Nov 19 2015 bottle. Thanks Jo. Aroma: big vanilla nose, caramel,. Just feel like smelling my daughters cake. Lots of alcohol in there too and some bourbon. App: clear light red just like a scotch. Taste and palate: full body, liquoreux, medium sweetness, alcohol finish. Overall: well. This is a fine digestive. Im not a digestive guy though. Its interesting to see all these flavors in a barley wine. Good but just a small glass, just like a digestive.
