Evan Kleiman, host of KCRWs Good Food, was inspired to collaborate with Patrick Rue andThe Bruery after enjoying a homemade Rhubarb Raspberry Pie. The rhubarbs fruity sourness tempered with the sweetness of the fresh raspberries and the wheat crust, begged to be bottled up in the form of a bubbly beer. Keeping the original pie recipe in mind, specialty grains were chosen to mimic the crust, and rhubarb and raspberries were used in varying stages of the brewing and fermentation process. The resulting beer is reminiscent of a fresh country pie, cooling on a farmhouse windowsill.

Bottle thanks to Kenny at RBESG. It pours hazy orange-amber with minimal head. The nose is sweet, tangy, vinegar, raspberry, light vinegar and wood. The taste is crisp, tart, sherbet, raspberry, big acidity, wood, enamel-busting pucker and barnyard with a dry, acidic finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty big and acidic. Not bad.

750 ml bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of raspberry, rhubarb, bread and light oak. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of rhubarb, raspberry, bread and light funk with a crisp dry tart lingering rhubarb finish.

750 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly raspberry forward with a nice rhubarb note as well. Light oak character and hints of toasted malts and graham crackers. Pours a murky, copper-red with a frothy, dark tan head that recedes very quickly. No lacing and small legs. Flavor has a nice moderate tartness with some upfront raspberry notes followed by a nice rhubarb character. Medium light oak notes with low bitterness. Light malt character. Finishes fruity with rhubarb and raspberry with some lingering acidity. Hints of alcohol in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a very enjoyable tart raspberry beer with notes of rhubarb. The oak works well, but I think I was expecting a touch more malt character. Still delicious. One of my favorite Bruery beers from 2013.

Pour out of 750 ml bottle, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of sour cherry, berry, hints of grain, raspberry, touch of grass. Taste is a mix of grass, berry, dark cherry, grain, hints of vinegar, tart fruit, finishing slightly sweet, dry. Nice.

Bottle at home with friends. Pour is clear orange with a small tan head and decent lacing. Vanilla, cherry pitt, earthy, lightly tangy, dark fruity, white chocolate, and woody aroma. Taste is orange juice, lemon peel, somewhat salty, biscuit, pears, green apples with a big sour finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Meh.

Bottle @ Stephens house. Pours a bright, dark orange appearance with a light brown head. A touch nutty, raspberry / black cherry, slightly acetic aroma. Moderate to highly sour. Strawberry / rhubarb, kind of juicy, herbal / woody flavor. Pretty tasty. Nothing special.

750, very tart per usual from bruery. Lots of fruit flavors, both attack the palate but such is bruery. Lots of raspberry in this one, the tart from the rhubarb blends well with the tart from the bugs. Nice stuff.

This beer coming at ya hot! Aroma is raspberry jam, lemon, balsamic, and more raspberry. Taste is insanely acetic bordering on unpleasant but the jammy raspberry and rhubarb is very evident on the flavor. Finishes tongue scrapingly tart.

(750ml bottle) cloudy pinkish beer, fine offwhite bubbles. Nose of fresh raspberries and seeds, rhubarb, light butter. Taste is quite acetic, raspberry, rhubarb, very tart, throat closing a bit, nice finish, but still a bit on acetic side.

750ml bottle. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Jammy, berries/raspberries, rhubarb pie (or was that implanted into my mind), and citrus. Nice tart finish with the alcohol content hidden.
