Bottle shared at Paul’s May 2014 tasting. Pours an amber body with thin white lacing. Notes of sweet caramel malt, light fruit and spice. Syrupy hop character on the palate. Too much sweetness overall. PhillyCraft (7597) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Bottle shared by someone at Pauls. thanks. Poured amber orange with thin head and lacing. Aroma and flavor were caramel malt, orange hops, and toffee. Way too sweet, needed way more hops and bitterness. jtclockwork (16876) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Bottle at Paul’s. 300th IIPA rating. Pours amber red with white head. nose/taste of pine, sap, resin, maple sap, caramel malt and tree resin. Medium body. psabotka (46) - - APR 16, 2014
Pounder. Pours an unfiltered deep amber with solid tan head and huge lacing. Subtle but appealing citrus nose. Strong fruity citrus palate, hops are thereby not as strong as I'd expect for a DIPA. Big caramel malt finish with medium mouthfeel. Quite good, just wish it had a little more hop bite and finish.

Watery and caramelly, it tastes a little green almost. Nice hop flavor, but not very bitter.

Significantly muddy brownish amber pour. Head was sparse until I poured more aggressively to stir some up. Leaves since c’mon though. Aroma is not like anything I can remember. It’s mostly butterscotch, banana and toffee. Flavor is dominated by butterscotch. Some other fruity, malty tones ias well. Strawberry, orange, fruity candies. Hoppy finish, lacking enough bitterness to balance. Some pine. Tastes a bit flat and thick. Seems like it could be decent it itmweren’t ruined by the butterscotch. It’s not what I typically associate with diacetyl, but I don’t know what else would cause that. RamonaRampage (6) - - SEP 12, 2013 does not count
A rich caramel aroma with a touch of sweet banana, color is amber orange with a white head, slightly sweet taste and some medium bitters, medium body and a very light bitter finish. Good but not great, the alchohol content on my label says 9% not 10. blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 9, 2013
22 oz bottle born on date 022813. Another Total Wine old beer but the date on the total wine bar code sticker is 8/28/2013. What a trick I thought this one was like two weeks old because I did not see there was two dates on the bottle. Shame on total wine for buying six month old iipa’s and clearly knowing it because they covered the original bar code with there in house sticker so it would scan at the reduced sale price. I saw it filling an end cap with other Cambridge beers and figured it was a fresh new arrival because it was not there last week. Pour has a deep red brown color and a nice covering of tan head that held up well. Aroma unfortunately shows the age, caramel, oxidation, and aged hops. Mouth feel is a medium and the carbonation is average. Flavor gets some bitterness, camel malts, aged hops, and bits of sweetness. Aged barley wine style I guess. I don’t usually rate an iipa of this age but clearly the distributer and the store are in on this one and judging from other ratings the beer was not so great to begin with. I think this started at the top not so great and everyone down the chain stuck me paying the bill on this trick. thornecb (5994) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 2, 2013
Pours deep gold into a Sam glass. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sour butterscotch and roasted rancid vegetable aromas. Soft with cloying overripe banana and decaying zucchini. Uh, sorry, but this is really bad... ben4321 (6607) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - AUG 2, 2013
Location: 22 oz bottle from Oak Tree (CT), 8/2/13
Aroma: The aroma is sweet for the style, with caramel/fruit, some booze, and some pine/fruit hop
Appearance: It pours a dark orange color with a huge (2 + fingers) foam of frothy beige head
Flavor: The taste is plus sweet, and mid-plus bitter, but the sweetness just makes it feel off-style
Palate: The body is medium-full, it is sticky, with lively carbonation, finishes dry and a touch hot
This one wasn’t a favorite for me. The hop presence is really just not that exciting, and there’s too much sweetness. It’s a fine beer, but it its toward the bottom of the style for me.
