Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells roasty with some peppery spicy elements. Tastes of chocolate, licorice, some raisiny hints, earthy with a bitter finish.
Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a thin khaki heads which leaves no lacing. Big chocolate notes on the nose. Lots of chocolate malt on the tongue as well with enough hops to keep the thing from becoming like yoo-hoo. Solid finish. Another great beet from Cambridge House. dogfish120love (1325) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Pour a dark chocolate brown with a thin light brown lacing. Notes of cocoa in the aroma. Rather dry Reynolds314 (3433) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Very mellow smooth roasty porter. Really nailed the style and was just a pleasure to drink. You could put these down fast without thinking. Great roasted chrachter and silky smooth boto (2193) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - JUL 17, 2011
Draught at CBH: This one pours a clear, dark brown color. It has a small tan head on it that doesn’t linger long and leaves some lacing. Milder aroma. Some roastiness, chocolate and maybe some earthy hops. The taste is good. Roasty, chocolate with a hint of coffee. Dry taste, with no sweetness at all. Very smooth. Nice!
