2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A bland lemonade-weisse.
How: Tap at Prohibition Pig, Waterbury VT.
The look: Cloudy off-white body topped by a very small white head. One of the palest beer I’ve ever seen.
In long: Nose is a bit tart, lemony, some green bananas. A very light body lacking vivacity. Taste is very much on the light side. There is some timid wheat, some timid lemon juice, some timid green bananas, some timid green apples. A timid tartness. Tasted like a true Berliner Weisse (didn’t taste like any souring agents were used) but it was just too timid even by classic 3% Berliner Weisse standard. Very easy to drink (d’uh!) and somewhat refreshing (d’uh!) but ultimately unsatisfying. This beer was so boring that its recipe could be used as the screenplay for a new movie starring Nicolas Cage.
Sample at the taproom. The beer is a hazy bright yellow color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily to a wispy film. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart lemon, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with a lemony character and notes of floral yeast and doughy malt. The finish is tart with a citrusy aftertaste. Decent overall. Draft @Prohibition Pig. Nice hazy, bright yellow color. Thin head. Nose is light wheat and Lemons. Taste is tart lemon, wheat and some hay. Light pucker hits the back of your tongue. Very light body and just the right balance for the style. Lightly funky as it warms. Refreshing drinker. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - OCT 14, 2012
Sampled on 10/11/2012 at GABF. This Berliner Weisse pours a slightly hazy light yellow gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is wheaty, citrusy and tart. A medium bodied Berliner Weisse. The malts are cereal, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal. Crisp, clean and tart. Decent carbonation. Mildly tart, but nice citrusy flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2012 On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is both lemon tart and very wheaty. Flavour is very wheaty and only lightly tart with a bit of lemon. The lemony wheat pretty much characterizes this. Very solid and refreshing. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 21, 2012

pear juice yellow.
sour mash and lime juice nose.
prickly cider-like acid.
soda water carbonation.
mildly bile-like lactic acid.
vitamin powder dried granny smith apple finish.
light body but supportive acid.
Cidery, wine beer with nicely astringent finish. Yellow cloudy pour very pale. Aroma is yeasty and cider. I sensed ’n bietjie yeast in the aroma, and much wheat in the light body boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Tap @ The Commons... Poured hazy, pale straw/yellow with a white head. Quite vibrant looking. Nose had some lactic acid and yeast musk. Cleaner in the tast with wheat, grass, floral tones and a lactic acid character coming through in the finish. It’s getting there, and I trust they’ll develop this into a solid Berliner Weisse.
