Clear light golden with a lasting thick white fluffy head. Dry farmhousey dusty hay on the nose with a kiss of black peppercorn and light fruit skin. Crisp pale malt flavor that’s Belgian ish and dry and slightly funky, clean, a touch peppery, and a light fruity pale malt finish. Clean and elegant and simple, but delicate and pale malty.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2017 Big bottle from Mile High. This beer has a barely hazy gold body with a gigantic, pillowy white head. It sure looks like a real Belgian beer. Incredible funky, peppery, fruity, barnyard aroma wafts from the tulip glass. A kiss of pilsner malt rounds out things with a light, spicy hoppiness. The mouthfeel is smooth and spritzy. Excellent yeast character continues in the flavor with suggestions of pineapple, pepper, and hay. A semi-sweet malt body gives impressions of cracker, but dries out quickly. This is an expert saison that goes beyond just your average American take on the style. Everything from the mouthfeel to the nuances in the yeast character clearly shows attention to detail.

From tap at The Commons, Portland. Aroma is spicy Saison yeast, malt, herbal notes, spicy notes, with a mild floral touch and citrussy notes. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Body is medium. Decent ’Farmhouse’ effort, lacks some refinement, fairly sweet.

Draft at the brewery. Dark yellow in colour with a touch of haze and medium carbonation. Aromas are of honeycomb and lemon-lime soda. Flavors are of herbal hop, crispy pilsner malt, floral citrus, and wildflower honey. Medium bodied with a quick finish. Somewhat Dupont-like... in a good way.

Keg @ The Commons. Clear gold with a creamy white head. Nose of saison yeast. Earthy bucolic countryside. Mild peppered grass. Flavor has a crisp, deft malt backbone. More honey. Floral bitterness. More pepper. Light body, bright carb. Pretty good!

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2017 Pours clear straw, finely bubbled white head. Nose is yeast, banana, hay, floral. Taste is quite dry, bread, more banana ester, touch of honey. A classic saison, lightly hopped and spiced, very simple but nice. Seltzer like carbonation with a mineral bite, which I dig but a bit unusual. Straightforward and good.
