Thanks to someone for sharing this at a recent bottle share at The Flying Saucer. Glad I got to try this one.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of big chocolate notes with some roasted malt mixed in as well. The flavor is also full of chocolate, with some fairly heavily roasted malts and a little bit of mint mixed in. The beer is very dry overall. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Waxed bomber generously served up by Jamie of The Covey, thanks! It pours mahogany with tan head. The aroma is a smooth mix of pumpernickel bread, black licorice, black strap molasses, musty dark roasted malts and earthiness. The aromatics come across tightly blended together. The taste is smooth moving from oak into roastiness and then into modest amounts of black strap molasses and earthiness. Just behind, midway and into the finish, are various thin layers of oak, earthiness and dark fruitiness pick up some and carry deep into the after taste. Nice treat. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 11, 2009
(Growler thanks to jkwalking05) Pours very black with a tan head and nice lacing. Nose of unsweetened chocolate, coffee. Taste is creamy, chocolate, coffee and a nice fully body. It also has a meaty palette finish which I find interesting and good. mar (5415) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 22, 2009

Pours a deep, dark black with an off-white head that seemingly glows atop the beer. Aroma is smoky chocolate, brownie batter, and vanilla sugar. Flavor is smoky chocolate with a slight cilantro finish. Thick, gooey mouthfeel that leaves a trail of flavor along the tongue. Good stuff; I would definitely drink more of this.
growler, thanks to jkwalking05, black color with no foam, dark roasty aroma, flavor of dry cocoa, dark fruit with a light malty dry finish SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - SEP 12, 2009
